SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

After the joy of their win in the last round it was back to disappointment for Raheen Senior Footballers as they again suffered defeat this time to Ballycumber in Rd 4 of the Senior B Football Championship last Sunday evening in Mucklagh. Ballycumber were first out of the blocks as they opened the scoring with a point followed by a goal on 2 mins. Raheen then got going and were off the mark of 4 mins when Conor Carrol intercepted a Ballycumber clearance about 30m out before laying it off to Jordan Burke making his debut for the club following his recent transfer having been put through 1 on 1 with the keeper made no mistake as he blasted the ball to the right corner of the net for the goal. This is how it remained until the 10th min as Ballycumber slotted over a free which was the first of 6 points apiece over the remainder of the half and so at the break Raheen were trailing by just a single point 1-07 to 1-06. In the first 10 mins of the second half the sides swapped 2 point each. Ballycumber then added 2 more points before John Ridgeway brought it back to a 2 point game on 21 mins with what would prove to Raheen's final score. Raheen's cause was not helped with the loss of captain Brian Corcoran on 23 mins for a second yellow which looked very harsh and Ballycumber took full advantage scoring the final 3 points to seal the win.
