Kellaghan handed Offaly minor football reins

Monasterevin manager and Rhode footballer Pascal Kellaghan
Pascal Kellaghan is the new Offaly minor football manager.

The Rhode man succeeds Tubber's Padraig Farrell in the role and should have plenty of talent to work with after Offaly won the prestigious Fr. Manning Cup U16 football tournament for the first time recently. He was controversially relieved of his duties as Offaly U21 manager when Emmett McDonnell requested charge of both senior and U21 teams last year, but will return with a different Faithful team in 2014.

Kellaghan, who still plays club football with Rhode, is regarded as one of the best young football managers in the midlands, having enjoyed success at club level with Ballinabrackey (Meath) and Monasterevin (Kildare) in recent years. He was nominated for the Westmeath senior manager's post a few of weeks ago, but decided not to go for interview.
