Belmont claim local bragging rights

August 16, 2013
Belmont's surprise 0-20 to 0-12 victory over St. Rynagh's was the result of the fourth round of the Offaly SHC last weekend.

County star Colin Egan and full forward Damien Egan posted 0-6 each as Belmont inflicted a first defeat on their neighbours. Despite this setback, Rynagh's remain top of Group 2 on scoring difference from Coolderry who, aided by 0-11 from Brian Carroll, defeated Kinnitty by 0-19 to 1-13.

The other game in the group saw Shinrone cruise to a 5-19 to 0-17 victory over Lusmagh with Derek Morkan, Donal Morkan, Jason Sampson and Declan Cleary (two) getting the goals. With a round still to play, Kinnitty and Lusmagh are already condemned to a relegation semi-final.

Champions Kilcormac/Killoughey are certain to top Group 1 after they accounted for Brosna Gaels on a 3-21 to 2-9 scoreline. Arguably the performance of the round, however, came from Seir Kieran who hammered Tullamore by 5-17 to 1-9 on Saturday night.

The other game between Birr and Drumcullen was postponed due to a bereavement, but it already looks as though Drumcullen will be joining Brosna Gaels in the relegation semi-final.
