McNamee thinking long-term

Rhode and Offaly star Niall McNamee
Offaly captain Niall McNamee believes a good performance against Kildare on Saturday would be another step in the right direction.

The Faithful's promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz Football League would suggest they've turned the corner under manager Emmett McDonnell, and McNamee is hoping Saturday's Leinster SFC quarter-final will further demonstrate the progress they've made over the past six months.

"We are only starting out and it is a long-term plan," the Rhode clubman told the Tullamore Tribune.

"Kildare are five years ahead of us in terms of preparation and training. It is hard to say. We are looking for a performance. All Offaly people want to see is a team working hard for the jersey. I think they will get that. Whether it will be good enough, time will tell but one guarantee is that lads will work and work."
