Kilcormac/Killoughey opened their Sean Robbins Cup defence with an impressive 0-19 to 0-12 defeat of former kingpins Birr in Banagher last weekend.
Leading by just points, 0-9 to 0-7, at half-time, the double Ks opened up in the second half with Ciaran Slevin accounting for 0-11 of their tally. 2011 champions Coolderry produced a strong finish to overcome Belmont by 1-21 to 2-8. The winners outscored Belmont by 1-10 to 0-1 in the last 25 minutes to take the spoils.
Last year's beaten finalists St. Rynagh's defeated Shinrone by 1-12 to 1-8. Shinrone were extremely wasteful, racking up 16 wides with 11 of those coming in the second half.
Colm Coughlan slotted 0-8 as Kinnitty accounted for newcomers Lusmagh by 0-17 to 0-11. County star Joe Bergin helped himself to 1-10 in Seir Kieran's 1-18 to 0-7 victory over Brosna Gaels. Meanwhile, Ray Gavin's reign as Tullamore manager got off to a winning start as the Blues got the better of Drumcullen on a 0-14 to 1-8 scoreline.
