Shamrocks GAA Notes

May 14, 2013
Intermediate Hurling Championship:
Well done to the hurlers who secured a first win in the first game in intermediate ranks since 2000. Shamrocks defeated Kilcormac on Sunday last in a game played in trying conditions, with poor underfoot sod. Shamrocks emerged victorious on a score of 3-11 to 1-09.

Junior football:
The junior footballers have had mixed fortunes of late as they were defeated by Birr in the championship on Bank holiday Monday but defeated Killeigh on the Wednesday evening last in the football league. Well done to all players who have returned to play at this level. Now just sort out the memberships!

Side-note:
One wonders with the mass of games in the last few weeks for all clubs in the leagues will there be a sufficient amount of competitive games available to clubs during the summer months when championship stalls and players are actually available from college?
Example: JFC on Monday, JFL on Wednesday, on the same week as IHC is fixed.

Boxing Prowess:
Well done to local man and talented boxer Stephen Healy on his boxing success at the weekend.

Commemorative Programmes:
A limited number of programmes from the Official opening of Rahan pitch will be available from Des Dunne in the coming weeks. The Rahan Gaa pitch, officially opened on 23rd May 1993 by Jack Bootman, is a vital component in the success of the club and the programme contains graet history and images of the club from the time.

Commiserations:
Hard luck to Offaly minor footballers on their heavy defeat on Saturday last in Newbridge. A disjointed Offaly performance saw the home side run out comprehensive and easy winners.
