Intermediate Championship
Doon v Kilclonfert: Saturday 23rd July: Venue: Durrow; Time: 5pm
Next weekend sees the resumption of the football championship in Offaly and Saturday evening sees Doon travel to their regular stomping ground of Durrow to take on Kilclonfert. With a 50% strike rate in the championship thus far, courtesy of an opening round defeat to Clonbullogue and a victory over Clonmore Harps, Doon will be acutely aware that they cannot afford any further slip ups if they are to advance from the group stages.
For a variety of reasons Doon go into the game without 4 of the side who featured in the last round of the championship but will still approach the game with a good degree of confidence on the back of some positive results in recent challenge games.
An earlier season league encounter may be used as a yard stick by some (Doon prevailed by 4 points) but wiser heads will pay little attention when comparing league form in March to Championship fare in July - 7pm on Saturday evening will be a more incisive marker in terms of Doon's progress and standing in championship twenty eleven………
