Tobin, John

Real 'characters' are few and far between in modern day society, but Walter, who passed away suddenly last Monday, was a genuine character in every sense. Everyone had a Walter story, every Waterford supporter knew him because there were very few intercounty Deise matches, hurling or football, that he didn't attend. Coming from a family steeped in GAA and founders of the Shamrocks Hurling and Football Club, he was a familiar sight at GAA grounds all over the country. His wit and signature 'Oiii' will be sadly missed wherever Gaelic fans congregate. To his family and great circle of friends we offer our sympathies. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.
