On a warm evening at Dr Cullen Park, Offaly's U20s turned up the heat to beat Carlow by 2-19 to 1-10.
Cian Johnson - who is contentiously togging out with the county U20s rather than the senior team, having impressed during the national football league and O'Byrne Cup - was the star of the show with a wonderful return of 1-7 from play.
Shane O'Brien's major had the visitors off to a flying start and it was 1-4 to 0-4 after 20 minutes with Andrew Kehoe, Conor Crowley and Conor Doyle pointing for the home side while O'Brien, Cian Farrell, Johnson and Kevin McDermott registered the Faithful County's first four points.
Following further scores from Ferbane clubmates Johnson and Sean Ibbottson and a Farrell brace, the winners led by 1-10 to 0-6 at the break.
Farrell (2), Johnson (2) and O'Brien had the match out of Carlow's reach by the three-quarters stage and the hosts netted a late penalty before Johnson grabbed his goal on the stroke of the hour.
