Offaly rocked by resignation

February 16, 2018

Tony Leavy RIP.

Offaly GAA has been stunned by the news that secretary Eamon Cusack has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.

The Durrow clubman was elected to the position in December 2016 and was re-elected last December for a second term in the role.

However, despite attending the February meeting of the Offaly GAA County Board, Cusack has informed the executive of his decision to step away from the position.

The Midland Tribune reports that the reasons for his decision are unknown, but the county board are sure to have to call an emergency general meeting to elect a successor.

Assistant secretary Pat Horan, who only took on the role in December will step up in a temporary capacity and it remains to be seen if he will take up the position on a permanent basis.
