I have to say lads having been at the donegal final and leitrim final in the past weeks that was an absolute belter of a game yesterday. Calls for a better ref? Perhaps but he let a lot go which unfortunately we're not seeing enough of in my opinion. A donegal or leitrim ref would have been blowing all day long and would have resulted in a far less intense hard hitting match.
Looking forward to the replay. Freeman was terrific.

Like Frank i thought Clontibret were denied a couple of frees at the death that would have sealed the deal for them, but when i went home and watched the deferred coverage the ref was spot on. Clontibret penalty was defo not 1 and Tommy goal was pure class, a bit of experience goes a long way. Some of Clontibret players didnt turn up on the day - dessie,jp, a couple i can think of. There is nothing between these teams so replay should be good.

Farnan should have got a red card and the ref should never have given the penalty to Clontibret and he was wrong to blow it up early.

Big Francie is an animal of a man and Greenan could not match him.

Pardon me for being positive - but I really enjoyed watching that game yesterday.

I had to make do with watching on the box as I was 150 miles away but I thought it presented very well - the pitch matched the excellent weather.

The football was good with some excellent attacking. It had goals, missed chances etc and both teams kept going forward to the end.

I watched with with some non-Monaghan people, some of whom had places to go but insisted on staying to the end to see the outcome - always a good sign.

So instead of always being down on ourselves, praise to good teams with a decent standard of football and some hard (but fair) hitting.

I had a choice of three matches to go to yesterday Ardee, Stabannon or Inniskeen , but on the home front I had a feeling that the Rath's would not be fit D.Y.I. and heard that Stabannon ladies were a sure thing in their semi., so I headed north west to Inniskeen, and am delighted I did so.

A great game of football, end to end stuff with plenty of good scores and everything you would expect from a county final.

My only query would concern the referee, who could have awarded match winning frees to either team and failed to play injury time of which there was at least 4mins. blowing up when Mitchells were in posession. But saying that both teams seemed to be happy at the end.

Congrat's Grattens for beautifull grounds, my first time there and I hope not my last.
