NFL Division 1 2016

(Oldest Posts First)

Provisional Fixtures for Monaghan as follows.

R1 31st Jan 2pm Roscommon V Monaghan
R2 7th Feb 2pm Monaghan V Down
R3 27th Feb 7pm Dublin V Monaghan
R4 6th Mar TBC Monaghan V Mayo
R5 13th Mar TBC Cork V Monaghan
R6 27th Mar 3pm Monaghan V Kerry
R7 3rd Apr 3pm Monaghan V Donegal

Some tough games stacked towards the end of the league. Id say that Roscommon and Down will be happy enough to have us at the start of the league, but I think that we need to be taking full marks from those two games. Good to have 4 home games. I feel they should be played in Clones, but we could bring Donegal to Blayney if we have to, as they would be more used to Clones. That will be a grand match at the end to spice things up for the Championship.

definitely need to be beating down and roscommon after that donegal in blayney could work against us as the big open field could catch us out mayo and kery in clones take a couple of points from then should see us maintain div 1 for following season

Id bring the Down match to Castleblaney(dont let them have a run out in Clones before June) of our home games in Clones.

Winning our first two is important, although we all taught it was the end of the world when we lost to Cork last year in our second match.

Its a tough season in Division 1 were if your not at the races you will get hammered ie Mayo and Dublin last year.

Dont mind what happens aslong as there is new faces played specially in the forward lines.

From what i hear everyone is staying for one last push.

St.Tiarnach's Park is a completely different pitch in June than in February , I see what you's are getting at but if we are good enough to be in Division 1 we will beat Down anywhere

it could be a long year for monaghan, burst a gut last year and were found out to be still considerable off top table pace . Monaghan and roscomon to be relegated.

Hmm, with Donegal in a worse position than us, and Down in the division, I very much doubt that.

"Burst a gut last year". Thats the funny thing we won Ulster bursting a gut for about 15-20 minutes against Donegal. Apart from that I thought we were below par in all our games.

Outside of Dublin, Mayo and Kerry any of the teams could get relegated. Extremely competitive division.

You summed it up there, Even look at Derry 2 seasons ago in the league final of div1. , this year no where near that

If Scotstown qualify for the latter stages of the Club Championship and we are missing the Hughes', Rory and McCarthy for any number of games then we are going to struggle in Div 1.

I dunno, time for others to step up. When regular starters go missing, the stars of the future make their name. I think it would be good to blood a new keeper in league games for back up to Rory.

^^ Here here, It's not alright to be relegated just because were a few missing players
