U 19 League

(Oldest Posts First)

More farcical planning from the county board again this year to follow up from last year's poorly run u 17 league ,
The u 19 s called off last week because of too many teams bring unable to field , so the word from county board is , county u17 s are not permitted to play , seriously what planet are these people on ??? Any body else suffering these problems ?

Surprised no one has commented on this so far but maybe everyone already looking at May V Cavan and have no interest in the clubs.
Every year the fixture planning gets worse and worse. The Star games and agreement has helped at senior level but the problems just mounting underneath that.
County U20s locked away from clubs for months, when the senior county players finish their league games will the U20s be pulled away too? Wouldn't be surprised.
U19 competition now a handful of games across 4 months and no one knows if the county U20s or U17s will be playing. Even at that the games played morning after senior games.
Then we have still no fixtures for U17s or u15 club games. Again the county managers appear to be setting the agenda and holding back players and games.
This has been brought up numerous times at county level by various delegates and the buck gets passed and deflected as been some other committed role and can't be discussed here.
The day they moved from old underage structure was the start of the end and time they went back to it.

Good to see I am not the only one thinking on these lines, we really need to sit down and decide what the procedures are for under county teams at underage level , banty was v successful last year ( which every one want s to see) but it can't become just about 30 lads on a county panel when there s 300 waiting / looking for games !

Agree with these sentiments, the U20's last year training for months and months to get one game? It doesn't make sense locking lads away from clubs like that.

As predicted by anyone with bit of foresight, this competition has turned into a shambles with many games going on not played today.

Time county board bit the bullet and went back to even age groups abandoned at least had proper minor competition again, serious lack of respect to clubs again to suit inter county competitions and ignore the 95% of players who will walk away from football as 17 year olds struggle to go straight into senior football.

It was never broken, yet they wanted change to suit intercounty development squads.

Completely agree, go back to Tues evening u18 games , Thurs u16 , at least that way 1 or 2 exceptional minors ( at most clubs)that are ready and fit for senior, can do both , not this absolute bulls*** of asking young lads to play Saturday evening and again on Sunday , the same happening with county u 17 , playing sat and u19 club games the next day, this is exactly how burn out and falling out of love with football happens

No games fixed until July 7th and most didn't go ahead last weekend! A shambles to say the least
