Division 2

(Oldest Posts First)

GreAt credit to Finbarrs to be joint top of div 2 in their first year coming up from junior . In doing this they overcame two of the stronger teams in the division Gers and brides. I imagine iif Cooley can continue to have the service of Brian White who is London based that they will have a huge say in who makes the immediate return to senior football . Oliver Plunketts may well be the ones to take the drop . But early days yet ,

Great credit to the Barrs for starting well. This Div as we know is extremely hard to call every year and this year will be no different. I would agree that if Brian White is available to Cooley then they may be slight favourites to go straight back up. Otherwise its anyone's guess.

If Cooley can have Brian White back for games surely Louth should do the same. Half way to solving the midfield problem

Was Ryan Burns out this week? He is so important to Hunterstown.

Nice balanced look to the division 2 table. The Ger's will be close to the top along with Cooley come the end of it. Did I hear right that the leagues are being spilt at the end of this year?? If so does anyone know how they'll spilt them???

Good win for clans yesterday hunterstown will be disappointed losing to them again, can see the clans or gers now beating the Gaels in the promotion/relegation game.

Gers were much the fresher team coming into this game at the Ramparts against the Clans but the Castletown men are very fit and had the lions share of the possession.

they had the wind behind them in the 1st half but let themselves down with their finishing. the Gers got an early goal and a 2nd half penalty left them 6 in front. the Clans nearly clawed it back and put a lot of pressure on but the Gers won by a point in the end.

for Clans their main man Billy Smith had an off day and they didnt make the best use of all the possession they had.

2-6 ---- 0-11 at FT.

I hear this is fixed for Sunday Week at 11am. Why is it not on this weekend?
By all accounts both teams want it changed, as Dundalk are playing a final in Dublin that day and many people have trains, buses, tickets booked a week or 2 ago.
County Board surprisngly have refused to let them play it on the Saturday Night!
They really do try make it hard for people

Any word on whether the county board are willing to change the Pro/Rel game with the FAI Cup on Sunday? Surely it makes sense to play it on the Saturday Night.

Can anyone explain why the Gaels won the division 2 league because they had the head to head victory over the brides due to finishing level with them. The brides had better score difference so why wasn't this used to determine the league winners??I thought once there are no walkovers given the score difference comes into effect?!

Score difference only comes into effect when 3 teams finish level, with the clans drawing with DYI , gaels and brides level Gaels won head to head.

Replying To Louthclan:  "Score difference only comes into effect when 3 teams finish level, with the clans drawing with DYI , gaels and brides level Gaels won head to head."
Thanks for clearing that up,I think that is a fair rule in fairness because score difference can be a bit unfair in some instances. The head to head is much more fair
