Senior And Minor Finals 2019

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The fact is that a lot of the Blues most famous players have been outsiders brought in like Kelly and Richie Culhane. Another great Louth player Kevin Dawe came in from the O'Raghallaighs and won a Championship in 1981. They're seen as the club to join if you're from the Drogheda area and want to win things.

Which is not what the GAA is supposed to be about.

Club loyalty appears not to exist for a lot of people in South Louth - transfers are far less common between Dundalk clubs.

I looked at the team the Blues had the last time they won the SFC before the three in a row in 2013. There was three other transfers-in that started that game that hardly played a game since. Seems that they were happy to head off with the medal in their pocket.

There seems to be a lot of jealousy towards the Blues, they are a fine team and 3 in a row takes some doing.A lot of this current team were part of there good minor team a few years back and manager blended them in nicely

Bitter jocks men they have no hassle when they go rob small clubs in junior but when the blues do it by god it's wrong

How many Blues players were transferred in ? Good quality transfers are a massive help in winning championships.

Singingtheblues if you bothered looking back at the posts it was actually Red2017 who first posted the above statement.

Every Team we're discussing have had transfers in at some stage and all have contributed to their new clubs, I can remember fellas from Rathkenny playing with Mattock, Kirwan and other Guards playing with the Pats during their successful period, Courtney and a few others to the jocks. Indeed many have come and gone from the Blues but no one can deny the majority of the 3 in a row team is home grown.

That's not true, he played a big roll at full forward in keeping the Jocks senior in that playoff against Mattock and was always good for scores and still is even as he get older.
The bottom line is transfers happen for various reasons and far enough the Blues have a few but what clubs don't? Nobody could deny the Blues their victory in this years final and also achieving 3 in a row. A marvelous achievement. Hard to believe that great Pats team of the last 15 years couldn't do 3 in a row. Just shows you how hard it is to do!
