When Sam Crossed the Boyne:

(Oldest Posts First)

This coming Bank Holiday Monday on LMFM just after the 1.00 pm news there is a documentary called "When Sam Crossed the Boyne" about that historic day sixty years ago when the great Dermot O Brien captained the Wonderful Wee County to All Ireland glory. Not to be missed.

Can't wait. Colm Corrigan is a great man with documentaries on bank holidays. I'm sure he will raise a lot of adrenalin for many listeners.

I say he has a look on here now and again. You never know he might even have a username on here.

This was a powerful programme. Well done Colm. It was great to hear the stories and the background to the glorious day. Kevin Behan's socks story showed how useful a good aunt can be. He might not have got that got that sideline ball high enough without her socks.

I really enjoyed it. It's a pity I was not around in the forties and fifties as that was Louth's golden generation. I listened to the whole lot of 1957 final on CD a few years back. Great memories indeed.

Does anyone have the whole final on DVD?

Imagine us Ollie, 2 hours after the game in '57, drinking brandy and smoking cigars after Louth's famous win!

Jaysus MR if Carlsberg only did dreams. Wee could stop off in Slane and say hello to the in laws. Meath won the Minor on the same day as well when they trashed Armagh. I say it was some fun with Louth, Meath and Armagh supporters mixing together that day. It would great to get the whole final on DVD. Here is a little reminder of that great day.
