have watched both teams in respected club championship and just think that manorhamiliton aren't good enough to beat corofin in my opinion. would love to see an upset for leitrim football and da fact manor are 18/1 to win connacht club!!

Hard luck to Manorhamilton last Sunday i like all followers of leitrim football would love to have seen them progress in the competition because after the very disappointing performance by leitrim in the connaught championship leitrim football could have done with a lift. But unfortunately the truth is we are a long way behind the rest of connaught. in the last eight years we had carricks unlucky defeat to caltra in 2003 and kiltubrids heroic efforts in 2005 as the only times when leitrim clubs made any impact in the connaught club. Manor have been comprehensively beaten on two successive years and hopefully that will finally put to bead this rubbish talk that they are the best team since allen gaels in the late nintys and early noughties. Manor are a very a committed consistent team but they do not have enough class to be considered a top level team. James glancy is the only manor player who will start in the connaught championship for leitrim next year and if they get a tougher draw in the championship than they got this year they will not win the 3 in a row that they were promising to. Now i hear people talking rubbish that manor could not compete against corofin due to lack of population which is completely untrue because manor have twice the population of corofin to pick from. Again it really goes back to the problem in wider leitrim underage football that our schools and underage coaching systems are way below standard. its a huge help to corofin that most of their players would have played top class college football in either jarlaths or st. patrick's of Tuam. So the county board who are doing their strategic review right now should just get one thing into their head Vmprove primary and colleges schools football

the future must be secondary schools based. I believe that we should lobby for a Leitrim Colleges team where the top 25 to 30 players in the county play in the Connacht schools A at 14,16 and senior levels, where they will play the likes of Jarlath's, Mary's and Gerald's. Dublin colleges were allowed do it in Leinster colleges hurling as did drogheda schools in football. At the end of the day the primary stumbling block is plain and simple...our population. Lucan sarsfields have a catchment area with a population of 38k, we have 28k. Its a law of averages and unfortunately it's the dark reality. we have to be realistic. the leitrim minor team would not be guaranteed to win the dublin minor club championship.

Tomguckian, Emlyn Mulligan will be back playing so glancy will be under pressure to make it, so place no bets on him yet

Dundee, that's an excellent idea. leitrim colleges team would the right job. lets hope that this comes near top of the list when the county board come back with a report on the discussions they had recently with clubs. if they mention building more pitches, schools of excellence etc....i'll cry.
