well always like this time of year for these conversations, so leitrim gaels have players that were not wanted from other clubs and they have picked up four county medals in the last few years let alone the underage and school football teams medals. Suppose it is better to life off the past in the other clubs (other than Manor) and give out about a team and where there players come from. Well defo a case of blinkered vision so cant wait for the next few weeks

Leitrim have yet to play a very impressive annaduff side who are growing in strength with every match!!! They will have it extremely hard to get past annaduff so i wouldnt be so sure of them for the title!!!

Dont know about very impressive as i watched their defeat to SOH, but definitly a tough challange for leitrim, Duff never comes just to fulfill a fixture!! Think leitrim are without a few of their influential players too!

As predicted, Yet another year in Junior A for Leitrim, cant expect to win games based on performances like that!!!! Duff overcame them in every area of the field, deserved winners on the day! Duff for the title and intermediate football nxt year!!

the shambolic defeat Leitrm Gaels experienced at the weekend at the hands of Annaduff's second team should put an end to this annoying thread once and for all. We have seen posts like " It's hard to look past them for the junior Championship," from Taffin, " No Team will get close to them and Eames is the future of Leitrim Football," from MulletsRock. It's obvious that Leitrim Gael supporters thought that all they had to do was too turn up to win the Junior Champiosnhip. If you look through their starting 15 that was never going to be the case, I count only 5 of their players that would make teams playing in this year's Intermediate Championship and only 1 of their players would make any of the teams left in the Senior Championship.
So like I said before Leitirm Gaels have made a lot of progress but have an awful long way to go, they are still the second lowest rank senior team in leitrm, just ahead of the mighty St Osnets. I hope some of their members don't instigate a heave against Damian Eames for lack of Progress, like they did at a recent county Board Meeting against the Honourable Micky Moran. Eames is still the best man to lead them forward, But what about a bit of Humility from the Leitrim Gaels supporters please.

wise words Mickey, disappointed to see them go out, up to division 2 football is a bonus for the season though.

i would really like everyone to stand up and acknowledge the achievements of annaduff so far this year, they are consistently knocked and considered underdogs. when are people gonna give them the credit they deserve!!!

Fair point pudding. I think everyone appreciates the presence of Annaduff. This thread was specific about a new club going in the right direction. I don't think anyone doubts the Duff. They are in great shape and playing good football. Serious contenders for the senior title. Everyone talks about Manor and rightly so, they have had great success with the 3, but it is hard for any team to keep that consistency going, we only have to look at history to great Kerry and Kilkenny teams. The duff also have as good as won the Junior title after beating the favourites yesterday, merely a formality now. I would not be suprised if they win the Senior and the Junior. Far from underdogs.

I had about 16 pints in the village Saturday night, decent banter. On the way home, paid the taxi man (of Nigerian descent i believe) to drive on to Gaels pitch and perform 'doughnuts' on the pitch. I didnt think he'd actually do it like. I'm pretty sure he feels miserable about it. Got a fiver for it though.

i meant the duff are underdogs on a match by match basis, they are already not fancied against carrick! i would not say that their juniors have won the championship already, thats what leitrim though and look at them!

Eames has got to go! The fact that none of the players turned up for the 10 Km run on Friday evening shows how much respect is there for him. Leitrim Gaels should be a senior club!

There are two lads playing for Gaels who are on the U-16 team. Which would deem them ineligible for the junior panel? The club is a shambles.

Leitrim gaels second team lost to st marys 4th team at the weekend in junior b, although leitrim gaels still progress, i hear it was a shambles of a performance. also it was good to hear paddy doran ran the field and scored a cracker of a goal, and him a stones throw from leitrim village. leitrim gaels wont go far in junior if this is the case.

The Wynne brothers couldn't be any more Drumshanbo! I believe Shane McGettigan park is pretty much their back garden! I remember them saying they wanted 1st team football when they were transferring to a team a division lower than the 2nd team they were playing on! That being said for many years Leitrim Gaels had no team so obviously all the interested players in area were signed up to other clubs. Aswell as this take a look at the Farrell's who I believe St.Mary's poached. Leitrim Gaels had a good underage set up at the time so no excuse for St.Mary's!

The Wynne brothers could be more Drumshambo if they lived there! Only 1 of them still plays with Leitrim Village, where he now lives!

I hear Leitrim Junior player of the year Aidan Flynn is a regular on Leitrim Gaels second string. Could someone please confirm this and explain why arguably Leitrim Gaels best player is in a position that allows him to play on the second team. I suppose the "1st" team are all in Australia are they? This kinda thing has to stop if we are to allow younger players to develop.

how have you come to the conclusion that leitrim gaels could be playing in division one next season? there a lot more likely to be playing in division 3 next season 1 win and 5 defeats in division 2 hard to see them getting anymore points maybe against eslin who are going very poorly this year so far, leitrim gaels are at best an average junior team!
