Leitrim Hurling 2019

(Oldest Posts First)

Well done to all associated with Leitrim Hurling on a great win yesterday and getting to croke park for second time in 3 years. Delighted for the small band of hurling people who have kept hurling alive in Leitrim over the years with little support. Hope they can bring the cup home in 2 weeks.

I'd be the first to admit that I know very little about the hurling scene in Leitrim! Martin Cunniffe is great for keeping hurling going. Good luck to all involved

Credit to those few who have kept the ancient game alive in Leitrim, from Gortletteragh down to Manorhamilton, the reward is to be seen today.
I maintain hurling should be on the national school curriculum in every school in Ireland

Well done to everyone involved with the hurlers. And to all the lads who kept hurling alive in Leitrim over the years with little support from anyone it was great to see ye get your day in the sun, it's a great pity Paddy Phelan wasn't around to see it but I'm sure he was looking down smiling, he done so much for hurling in Leitrim. Enjoy the celebrations lads richly deserved.

Great result for Leitrim.. Just wondering is it true your captain is a Galway man, he fairly hogged the limelight on Saturday.

He's a Tipp man originally but his club is down as Abbeyknockmoy in the programme. Michael Colemans club.

Great day out and delighted for the likes of Clement Cunniffe. James Clancy etc who have hurled for the county for so long.

Also interesting to hear Molloy going on about I think a 36 man panel. It doesn't sound like they have too many players who throw their toys out of the pram and walk off the panel.

What's going on in Leitrim hurling with the managers resignation? Seems highly odd after a very successful year

Managers don't resign in GAA they step away and are free to do so at any time, to resign that's a term for professional management when under contract.

He wasn't very quick going to the media before the reappointment "process" down the years.

Seems a crazy situation to get rid of a successful manager

It's a pity the way it's panned out after such a positive year. If they're moving on they no further to look than to Donegal. One of the best hurling coaches/managers that I have seen is living there. He's a native of Limerick and his son is currently on their Senior hurling panel. I remember hearing that he started the hurling renaissance in Ard School Rís alongside a great county man of mine Liam Kennedy of Borrisakane Tipperary. He put Dowling, McInerney, Lynch, Downed etc through his hands.

Jaysus, I forgot to name the man, multitasking is not my forte. His name is Tom Hennessy.
