Top 15 To Never Win A Kerry County Championship

(Oldest Posts First)

During Xmas, Timmy Moynihan of Radio Kerry picked a team of players who had never won the County Championship and it was as follows:

Charlie Neligan

James Costello Seanie Walsh Padraig Reidy
Donie O' Sullivan Liam Flaherty John Higgins

Ambrose O' Donovan Mikey O' Connor

Timmy O' Dowd John Kennedy Domo Lyne
Willie O' Connor Eamon John O' Donoghue Genie Farrell

Interesting topic. I don't agree with alot of his selections but maybe we can throw out a few names here. I think Eamonn Breen, Stephen Stack, Tommy Griffin and Seamus Scanlon deserve mention.

Tadhg Kennelly ? Tommy Walsh? Although tommy still has a chance I suppose. Did Seamus Moynihan win one with East Kerry at any time?

Apologies, that should have read Denis O' Sullivan. He played with Kerry and the Narries in the 60s.

Ya there is a few surprises; or is it just loyalty, I wouldn't agree with either corner back but the Selector has gone form one from his native club and one from his adopted club Pats. We could pick this until the cows come home but I think he should have stuck with players who have hung up the boots. If you were picking ex Kerry players from recently years alone: Seamus Scanlon, Tommy Griffin, and Mike McCarthy. From past days Stephen Stack, Eamon Breen, Anthony Gleeson, Dermot Hanafin.

Actually a question for you: Did the Beaufort lads, Paudie and Brendan Lynch win County Championship?

I don't think Tiger Lyons won a County Championship either, as well as Peter O' Leary who was a top keeper during the famine.

In fairness how could you forget Seamus Moynihan pretty much winning them county championships for East Kerry. Did Mike McCarty win one at that time or were Kilcummin gone on their own at that stage?

Good 1 lads, moomoo you got to understand I was on the sauce a lot back in those days and I didn't go to as many matches back then as I do now, and the ones I did go to I used to be fairly well cut as was the rest of the lads but ya it was a fair clanger to drop in fairness :-) and Galvin for centre back ;-)
