Players nicknames.

In the neighbouring parish there is a family and they are call the "the Rocks" they were all very big men ,who all played GAA, when they were playing you hear people shouting give it to Johnny rock or Tommy rock. The youngest boy of the family was quite small when he was younger. and when he stated playing for the local club ,the guy was training them in under age and asked this pactuliar brother who he was the young fella said he was Tommy and Johnny Rock brother, Tony. The trainer ,laughed at him and said "your no Rock ,sure your a pebble boy".
To this day, the guy is called pebble even though he 6Ft4

Jelly is called so because it sounds like Johnston... Finbarr Reilly is called Hormones.... self explanatory... Eddie Reilly is known as Crazy or Mad Eddie... again easy to see why

Fellow compeated in the long puck a few years was called "SnowBall" Think it was becuase he pucked the ball so high...

Played on same team as man who shall remain nameless - he wasnt the brightest bulb in the box- he never got to grasps with his nickname of 'wang'. We called his brother, 'Snu'. Wile craic altogether!

Ninehole, Don't think so, He was a spectator in the stand beside Mickey Harte for their recent championship exit to Clonoe O' Rahilly's. Not a man that frequents the old barber shop that often might I add!

Eoin Liston-The bomber-dunno why?

Called after Gert Muller( bomber ) the great German striker leading scorer in 1974 world cup, Liston so named for his strike rate playing soccer on the beach in BallyB.

Dodge for limerick (Donal O Grady) plays midfield.So does mike o'brien (bangers).
Mark Foleys nickname is rashers because anyone who ever marked him said he tore strips off em.
For my own club we have boiler,cornflake,lamb,bobbas,haunty etc!Dont ask me where they came from!
