I just wonder should Ireland ban all World cup games to save money.
If look at it this way the present average age of a Ireland supporter is 23
If you look at our unemployment stats 50 % of people from 20 to 25 are unemployed and drawing down a weekly living supplement from the Gov.
So if you take it the suppose 30,000 that went Poland a lot of them were unemployed and spending money in Poland that the people of Ireland just simply give to them as a hand out.
Why not the FAI organise youth camps where these people could go and organise Summer/winter camps for Local Soccer teams to promote the game in Ireland instead of travelling to away games. We are in a recession MR E400 K or is it E360 now.
I feel that these cups like like World cup/European championship ect area great drain on our resources bringing players from mainland Uk to play here.
I see the FAI intends to have a challenge/friendly game in the mainland Uk that makes sense, as at least our players will be at home.
What do you think????????

I'm in a bit of a Quandry Tom, I plan on spending a few days up in the mournes shortly. do you think it is unpatriotic of me as an unemployed person to spend some of my money on such things as Lodgings, food, golly bars and even a few pints outside the juisdiction, is there some statutory authority that could advise on same, or perhaps you could steer me in the right direction yourself.

I'm also heading overseas for a while in sept, what are the likely consequences?

Having watched Poor Trap becomming exasperated about a player failing to inform him properly about an injury I feel pull the team out, sack Trap, cut Mr D-----y salary by two thirds. Now we will be back to relality

Too late Tom, I've gotten my leave of absence from the dept of Hardship and flight booked to Astana. Few days in istanbul on way home will lift the spirits before returning to the drudgery of life in Ireland. Ireland have competed at international level since the foundation of the state, long may it continue, nothing like getting away for a game in the Faroes

Well Dhorse,

As one that comes from a very humble background you sure are making up for lost time in your youth =insofar as travel is concerned.
But then again there is no fool like an older fool Enjoy the trips and watch the broken wardrobe.

But back to issues at hand, sure the Irish team would be better off taking a few years out from competition to get reorganised

As one gets older Tom, one appreciates living life more, the humble bacground also adds to that appreciation. Having paid my debt to society I feel lucky to be able to do so. I did travel a bit in my youth also, but the constraints of family, work etc limited it somewhat.

A very unlikely scenario. hard to get organised not playing games, and unlikely to get challenge games/funding if not participating. Genuine supporters will stick with it through thick and thin, life goes on and nobody has loses an eye hopefuly.

Anyway Tom having considered all of your points It's with a heavy heart that i take my leave and head East for a while. However, I will do my level best to keep extravagant spending on such oddities as food and drink to a minimum while away. I will furnish the pensions board with full documentation, and any spare cash remaining, on my return. I would dread to think that my spendthrift ways might inhibit them in any way from paying out ministerial pensions.
