New season, new thread. With the mighty Gers wrongly taken out of the running, the title race is wide open with lots of smaller clubs in with a shout - Motherwell, Celtic, Dundee Utd.. For Irish fans is interest is obvious Dundee Utd are captained by a Dub Jon Daly, Inverness have Richie Foran another Dub as captain and Goodwin from Wexford? I think captaining St Mirren. Also with Pat in charge at Hibs, it could a great season for Irish fans of SPL

Any chance for this season this thread could be closed at about the end of november as 3000+ posts can be ridiculously hard to follow and a SPL 12/13 Part 2 thread opened. easy to follow thread if it doesnt get too big
Cant see anyone getting near celtic for the title but hopefully someone does as someone other than the big 2 winning would be great

Yes ormond Celtic are the bookies favorites but the other clubs must be really fired up to give it a real go. I'm surprised McCall hasn't been given money to spend at Motherwell to mount a serious campaign with Craigan and Jennings leaving. the CL money although likely brief, will be a bonus. They have done well to keep Hutchinson he is a class act. Hayes was a good signing for Aberdeen but they don't have enough going forward. Ross County could cause some shocks, they are very difficult to beat

Hope the Scottish football authorities are going to take action on the sectarian singing from this new club's fans.

What exactly is good about it? Fair play to her for reaching the Olympics but why would you post about it on and SPL thread on HS?? What significance is it that she is the Celtic chairman's daughter? I'm sure there are other chairmen who have relatives competing in London, why don't you list them for us?? You're nothing but a wum now go away.

Woah.. the comment re Rangers wrongly taken out was very much tongue in cheek.. they deserved to be kicked out of the SPL I dont think any Gers fans would argue otherwisw. A new start for the club under a new guise. Back to the real stuff - it seems with Rangers out the way, fans of every club facy their chances - season tickets sales up at Hibs Aberdeen and Dundee Utd already up on last year and obviously Ross County.

On a side not does anyone else think its a joke that celtic dont play a pre season friendly in Ireland every year? Not just a game to play a few young lads. For the amount of money i speand every year with a season ticket and flights you'd think they'd repay us with a trip over here

They played Cliftonville a few days ago. A friend who is a Cliftonville fan said the powers that be with Cliftonville were extremely unhappy, Celtic had agreed to send a decent team but reneged on that promise and sent what basically amounted to a youth team. It seems Celtic are happy to pocket the caeh from their loyal Irish following while giving nothing in return
