The match is not big enough for Croker and a quarter filled Croker does absolutely no good for the repertoire of the game. This is championship after all and one of the best things about championship is a championship atmosphere. Portlaoise will do fine and the small pitch may even suit us. This game will attract and has attracted the attention of hurling folk and id expect about 20,000 to attend which will make a great atmosphere. Plus its nice to get a big game out of Croker every so often.

I agree with the gist of what you say Liam although my spidey senses detect a bit of a dig at the hurling fraternity :-) But yeah, the footballers have a massive tradition behind them, The biggest supported team in the country since the 1920s including the national soccer and rugby teams. Dub hurling has bit to go to match that!

This match as i said at the top of the post should be played in Croke Park, Portlaoise as another poster noted has a capicity of 27,000 and for this match it will be approximately half full , much the same as Croker had the match been played there, the big difference being around 15,000 at portlaoise and approx 35,000 at Croke Park.

Lads, just wondering what terrace everyone is going to? I know theres one at the side of the pitch but think a sea of blue behind one goal would be class
