tyrrellspass blundered badly by not beating kinnegad . since that game they are playing great football
and might i add are doing so without martin flanagan . we will beat shams in the quarter finals and then
we face a semi final v the champions st lomans . i think that garrycastle will beat malachys and will also
beat both killucan and kinnegad to reach the final . im going for a tyrrellspass v garrycastle final

Oh right

Honestly can't see flan going anywhere but back to the blue side of Mullingar was at all of lomans games and all where handy wins only team to give them a game was castledaly and still out of all them games lomams were not even in top gear.Very impressed with kinegead this year and with leech back they would be the only team I could see causing an upset but still at that can't see it happening.

Relegation playoff is a local derby and there is huge interest in the south of westmesth in this game it's very hard call.Athlone going into it losing something like 10 or 11 games in a row a man told me ,castledaly put up a great performance against the downs with there players back playing in there natural positions and the return of Patrick Holloway is a huge boost for them they also put up good performances against lomans and shamrocks this year for me I'm going to go with cdaly there's huge pressure on athlone being a town team and being senior for many many years whoever goes down will come straight back up in my opinion!

As for that comment on poor senior teams / good intermidate teams and 2 up 2 down is absolutely a ridiculous statement! If these intermidiate teams were so good they would be up senior by now look at c/f/c/w ?Bunbrosna Malachys and kinegead have all proved this and Athlone or Castledaly will be straight back up too .The only team I think that is good enough for senior is tubberclaire and there my bet this year.

Mick you are dreaming if you think Lomans won't make the final. It will be a lomans/kgad final imo.

Lomans will make the final for sure but will get a good game from tyrellspass in the semi. I also think the winners of the playoff game between Malachys and Garrycastle will make the final too. I think garrycastle will win that because malachys players look like all there interested in is the hurling as they showed no appetite for the game v tyrrelspass or kinnegad and I there first 3 games they showed unreal appetite and in fact were the form team. I think a garrycastle lomans final is the way it will be I think.

Don't rule out Killucan lads. They pushed Lomans all the way in their first round and are unbeaten since. Raharney are flying as well & both clubs have serious momentum behind them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Killucan make the final.

Taken from www.westmeathgaa.ie

The first of this Years Knock out games in the Shay Murtagh Senior Football Championship takes place on Wednesday 3rd September when Garrycastle play St Malachys to determine who progresses to the Quarter finals. The match is fixed for Moate and has a 7-00pm throw in time.

No word on Athlone v Castledaly. I agree that Killucan could be dark horses to get to the final but the only team that would trouble Loman's would be Tyrellspass in my opinion.

Now after hearing Athlone v Castldaly is being brought to cusak park the 13th September,Malachys can be proud of themselves but won't beat gcastle this time round would love to see what they could achieve if they didn't juggle the hurling aswell that's what's killing them honestly think if the hurling wasn't there they could win a championship or come very close

I dont know iarmhi. Could you not say the same about Killucan/Raharney? They seem to have the right balance when it comes to both the hurling and football. When Raharney are going well so are Killucan. Killucan possibly should have won a county title in 2010 when Raharney won theirs.

I agree with iarmhi as it appears that although malachys still in it all they care about is the hurling out there. In fact I think its unreal that they have 3 wins as they usually in relegation. I think the difference is the manager as he was involved in county hurling as well and the hurlers like him so they play football for him. They were the form team at the start of championship but hurling has taken over now. Garrycastle to win by 5. Garrycastle have loads of county players and loads of experience malachys have nobody even close to intercounty standard.

Ps I think Garrycastle will make the final v lomans

Who is over Killucan this year lads? They seem to be having a good year but will be up against it on Sunday when they face Garrycastle.

Eamon Gallagher is over Killucan this year as far as I know royal. They always seem to do well under him. Think it could be his 3rd spell with them.

Killucan as underdogs will just pip Garrycastle on Sunday lads, Garrycastle are an ageing team and on the decline. Shamrocks will just edge T/Pass, going into the game without anyone giving them much hope will suit them fine.

I know a few lads who have put money on Garrycastle to win it out.

They will get to the final with the way they are improving

Garrycastle will win handy. T pass will pip Shamrocks. Lomans Garrycastle final.
Garrycastle have only 2 maybe 3 players on their starting 15 and have plenty of experience on the bench. Not an ageing team in the slightest. Could be dark horses to take lomans
