Brilliant result for Tipp.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Brilliant result today for Tipp, good perfomance other than half forward line who were poor, Benny Dunne as a forward? Padraig Maher was immense, some detail, some goal by kelly, his freetaking was class. Sheedy was fair thick to push Cody.Overall we have gone from getting hammered by Dublin to beating Kilkenny. What will happen next?????????????

Well Done yesterday, better team won, however I think that the win flattered to deceive, a really poor team KK team came withing 4 points of ye. come championship time i expect to see 1 of the 6 forwards playing yesterday starting in those positions Eoin Larkin will return to 12. Paraic Maher was really good yesterday but will never have it that easy again. Eoin Larkin looked sharp as a basketball and Richie Hogan was as useful as my chocolate teapot. Overall Tipp will have to up their game if they want to win anything this year League included.
One thing i must say is a lot of Kilkenny fans around me were very poor sports yesterday and i was disappointed to see that so i hope no one takes those few silly people too seriously.

Yeah have to agree with ya KKid. Nicely pointed out..... Tipp did have a lucky break yesterday, this is no game to go by. When championship comes and KK are on form with Henry back i gaurantee it will be the same as the last couple of years. But hopefully im wrong.

Lads in fairness terrible game but it's only march it's to be expected.... pluses were the backs and shane mcgrath good to see kelly looking a bit fitter hopefully the back injury won't hamper him this year.

kkid in fairness there were one or two bad sports one sitting next to me with richie power this richie power that nearly had a fit when i pointed out he had a bad game, but in general they were grand

good result for us but in truth it was a poor game.dunne at centre forward was invisible as was webster.padraic maher was top class as was eoin kelly.overall it was a good result improvements are needed in the half forward line and the delivery of the ball by the backs

Don't be getting carried away ther lads, ye beat an understrength KK team on your own patch and ye made hard work of it.If Henry, Cha,Martin Comerford,Mick fennelly ,Hickey and T.J. Reid were playing the result would be different.

The match on Sunday will be an interesting up as will the Cork vs Kilkenny match. The reason I say that is if Cork and Galway win they will more than likely qualify for the league final as Tipp and Kilkenny would have a mountain to climb after two defeats each.

Galway seem to be going fairly well and McIntyre should know Tipp's strengths and weaknesses better than most other managers. They will be without the Portumna players which is not easy but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Galway win.

I fancy Galway to have a really good year, this year. Only for injuries to the two backs they would have beaten Waterford last year and who knows what would have happened in a semi versus Tipp. Waterford beating Galway was a huge break for us because Limerick were not at the races against us.

i think we,ll win mainly because the portumna lads are missing

Lowerormond,
I know how close ye were last year I was there, fair play to Tipp for a gallant effort,my point is that beating an understrength KK in Thurles last Sunday wasn't a 'brilliant result' for Tipp as you would expect Tipp to win that game.

Sundays game was a game where both defences were on top. The hurling was not nice to watch just watched highlights of the the full 70 last night on Setanta. It was dire hurling nothing to get too excited about for both teams. Eoin Kelly Shane McAGrath & Padraig Maher for Tipp were best & for KK Mulhall Brian Hogan & Walsh were only players that stood out.

First touches were bad , KK lot of wides , Tipp threw the ball around far too much & wasted posession , relied on Kelly for scores even though at the end other forwards & Shane McGrath chipped in.

From KK perspective the wides will be a worry for Cody never seen them hit that many ever. Their half back line & midfield nearly outscored their entire 6 forwards.

Neither team went full belt it was half hearted but the goal was turning point & Tipp just for some reason always had that advantage in the 2nd half.

If Tipp dont beat Galway without the Portumna players then thats a major step backwards for us in terms of making a league final.

If KK dont beat Cork which I dont think they will below in Cork then thats KK out of the running too.

I would not be suprised if the league final is between Galway & Cork as all the talk is about Tipp v KK in another league final which is ridiculous as other teams now are catching up quitely just like Tipp did last year.

Im probably been negative but if both Tipp or KK didnt even make an AI final this year I would not be suprised. I think we are in for some exciting suprises in 2010.

Hard to see an understrength and unsettled Galway win this. That said I expect it to be close...

Festinog what is Dervan like as an Intercounty hurler???I heard he was very good at Club level. Do you think McIntyre has picked a good panel of players for this years league & championship or any players you think should be there that are not? Just interested as every year there are high hopes for Galway.

wildpundit,
Dervan is a decent defender in my opinion, his best position is centre back not wing back.He was an excellent centre back at minor but has never really done it at senior level. He might be caught for pace at county level.
