Replying To GAAdundalk:  "So which club is this. A Dundalk club I take it.DYI, Naps,SOM, Gaels, Clans. Or possibly Gers... Now I'm pretty sure it ain't the Gaels cuz they just finished.. Clans as well, Naps well they could do with some spark as could young irelanders but not starting in October.SOM possibly but I seem to remember you saying nobody in town liked them so they prob aren't your club and I don't believe they have a manager yet.maybe the Gers then..."
Just because I live in Dundalk, does not mean im orginally from Dundalk and play my football with a club in Dundalk

I wont name the club, as I dont feel its right too on here but ive heard many talking about it

Replying To WheresDeBallBag:  "I don't mind if it's on their own or collective but in my opinion collective is the better option. Most managers are genuine and just want lads to be at the level they require come February/March so they arnt wasting anyone's time or money.
Every year the manager situation seems to be getting madder along with the money being forked out by clubs. Anyone have any idea how many of the clubs in Louth have homegrown/local men at the helm?"
can't see the issue in coming back early if the players are up for it, especially if it is indoors. A lot of players with the interest join a gym for the winter anyway.

Great feedback on where club mangers are from. What about if you compare the 3 x championship winners, and 3 x league winners And those that won promotion - how does that stack up? And maybe add in relegation!

You see sharpey the problem there is, lads need a break. Not from the gym or fitness or anything but they need a break from being told where to be, when to be there & not to miss it or else.

The winter separates the lads who are serious about football from the lads who couldn't care less.

For 9 months or more out of the year, you're rushing home from work, you're giving up weekends with the family or friends (I don't mean drinking!) and you're told when you're training, when you're not and you're collectively training on things that may not be specific to what you need, i.e. Some lads need to shift a bit of fat, some lads need to build more core strength, some lads need to improve endurance.

Let the lads who are serious about it train in their own time 2, 3 or 4 days a week, without the fear of not making it on time, not knowing what time they'll get home afterwards. Then they'll be refreshed & ready to get back to the group mid-late January.

That's it Sharpey the game has evolved. As long as lads are interested and enjoying it that's what it's all about. You can bend over backwards but if them two things arnt there you're piddling in the wind

I dont know about you Royallass , but I reckon your pseudo name says it all , especially as you have I believe more Monaghan/Cavan blood in you that Meath Blood .And your interest in how Foreign Managers are perceived in Louth is very relevant for you this year .........A rising tide raises all boats , the Johnny Magee saga will be watched closely by everyone , isn't that right RoyalAss

I think the Nicks manager is from Donore so that would make him a Meath man. Is the Jocks manager not a Meath man?

Royalass in the Championship the Blues won Senior with a Louth man. Cooley were relegated with an Armagh man. In the Inter the Connels won it with a Monaghan man. D.Y.I were relegated with a Louth man. The Glens won Junior with a Meath man.

Ollie - Jocks manager is a Meath man but he has lived in Louth for a long time I think (if that matters I don't know)

As an aside Plunketts announced on Facebook that Mickey Matthews is taking over for 2018. I'm sure he managed them before, any idea when?

Glyde lost the championship final so can't consider gilsenan a 'top' manager.Club of that size should be winning a junior championship not just the league.Glen Emmett's manager should be considered a top manager winning the championship without key players. If glyde don't win championship next season gilsenan will probably be gone.
