Replying To WheresDeBallBag:  "Same heavy down pours in Stabannon non stop all evening and it took a game no problem. County board tried not to be fixing two important games early on a Saturday where their hands where tied for time slots. They had to go for lights. It would have been play them earlier in Stabannon, with that there would have been a torrent of that's a disgrace so early lads have work comments. So they tried to give the people what they want and they are still the bad guys. If these lads are so bad at their jobs why is no one putting their name in the ring to replace them?"
I agree WheresDeBallBag.
People just want to have a go at CB on any excuse.
Stabannon is no doubt the best playing surface in the County. It is a pity that their are short on space there as it would be some venue for a county grounds. Credit to all involved down there

Last nights results:
Clans 2-10 Mattock 2-09
Connells 1-13 Barrs 1-07

Wee will have a north Louth Inter final on Sun Oct 8th. The Connells got their revenge over their neighbours the Barrs after their 6 point win last night. The Togher men beat the Castlebellingham side in the group stage. The Connells follow Kilkerley and Mattock to reach a Inter final after been relegated from Senior the previous year. The Clans who were one of the favs to go up at the start of the year beat Mattock by a point.

Id like to see Clans winning it now, they've been like Mayo in recent years with all the final defeats!

It would be food for football in the town to have a 3rd senior team.

The likes of naps, Dyi and dhill have had poor seasons though.

In particular I can't get over how bad Dyi have been. Lost 10/11 in div 2, all their championship games and their second team even lost 9/11????

Ollie the connells beat the barrs in the group!

It was a decent game! The finbarrs looked comfortable and in control until their keeper gave away a penalty half ways through the first half and got sent off! Even then the barrs hung in there but their full forward line needed to take their chances and didn't! The o connells sat back back left space for Niall conlon and Robbie quigley! Finbarrs defence coped ok with the space up until the last 5 minutes when they looked out on their feet. Conlon and Mcgrane's battle was a real ding dong affair! Great to watch. Quigley and Lenehan was interesting too.

Dean stanfield coming off the bench made a big difference. Brian Sharkey and Padraig butterly tried hard but the ask was too much.

O connells experience shone out it the end with the like of Keith woods and Salem closing the game out! They need to take this experience into the final and test the clans bottle. If the clans don't take it for granted they should have enough power to see it through.

When was the last time that there were three teams from Dundalk playing Senior Championship? If the Clans did win it there would be 3 teams from Dundalk and 2 from Drogheda playing Senior football. That is nearly half of the senior teams from the two big towns.

One time there were four senior teams in Dundalk:-
Clans,Gaels, Young Ireland's and Dowdallshill.

Not certain but there could have been four seniors in Drogheda too :-
Oliver Plunketts, Naomh Mhuire, Blues and super Rats.

Then there was more then 12 senior teams, only voluntary relegation and no intermediate grade.

Clans have the talent to win it if they get it together on the day. If they had all the young O'Hanlons they could test anyone.
It's very hard to get out of Inter as Mattock are finding. Cooley will be making a big push next year.

In the interest of GAA in Dundalk Clans need to win Inter Champ and Gaels need to complete double in Senior.
What happened to D'hill, Young Irelands and NAPS. All relegated. I hope for the town it stope there. Are these clubs suffering from the success in Oriel Park

You could also in the Tones. The Tones had some team back in the twenties and thirties winning five championships. Mhuire's, Plunketts and the Super Rats all won titles in the fifties and sixties plus you had the Blues who won seven titles in the sixties including a four in a row. It would of been seven in a row only for the super Rats to have beaten the Blues in the 1965 final. This was the last time that there was an all Drogheda senior final. 1957 was a great year to be a Plunkett's fan. Not only did the wonderful Wee County win Sam but the Plunkett's won their only senior championship in that fab year.

And of course Tredaghs were in first All Ireland final in 1887.
Did The Mags ever win a senior?

Double won't happen , and I don't see why it needs to either. Oriel has nothing to do with it

No the problem is why would any 16-18/19 year old want to train for 6/7 months to play 9 or 10 games a year when they could play soccer for 9 months and get a game a week

It was the Dundalk Young Irelanders not the Tredaghs in the first All Ireland.

They never won senior. They won a junior title in the early forties.
