Hurlers 2018 Season

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Now the dust has settled, and despite the disappointment of the Limerick performance, it has by any yardstick been a great year for the hurlers.

The injury to Corcoran, one of the mainstays of the full back line certainly didn't help, but a battle hardened Limerick fresh from Munster were going to pose a big challenge, particularly after a 6 day turnaround from our last game. However, if nothing else, it will provide a great reality check ahead of preparations for the league and give an indication of the level we need to work towards.

Anyway looking to next season it its great that Colm Bonner is staying on, consistency is key at this stage. Are there any other lads out there that could come in to strengthen the panel for next season? Martin Kavanagh is back which will be a boost but there must be one or two others out there who would challenge for a spot ?

Good strong team named anyway. Nice to see a couple of new faces on the bench too.

Good win today for the hurlers. Wasn't at the game but following it on Twitter it seemed like Carlow were a lot stronger in the second half. Anyone at the game to report on how they played?

Followed it on twitter myself....on the Laois feed! Not much hope of keeping up to date on the Carlow one!

Fair play to the hurlers. Good scoring in bad conditions

Seriously impressive win, seemed to really dominate the 2nd half. Nice to have won the last few games v Laois now, hopefully we do it again in the league.

Great win. I have lost count how many games I was at where we could never get the better of laois( bar our qualifier win) & now to have beaten them twice in a few months, not only that but winning by ten & nine points, great stuff.

Anyone know the reason why twitter/facebook updates are so bad? Every other county has there house in order but we get no updates bar a few retweets from other pages. Even our clubs are in good shape with social media

I don't know why, although to be fair I think this is only a recent thing as up to a few months they were flat out tweeting. Maybe some one new is in charge of it.

Yeah thought it was poor enough at the weekend with only a couple of updates retweeted from the Laois Gaa site. Normally the Carlow page is pretty good to get all the scores.

Noticed that too the last couple of weeks, no updates at all. Just retweets from other accounts. No idea why as it has always been one of the most active twitter accounts, and usually excellent for updates/team news etc.
Maybe Tommy Murphy did more than we ever could have known, a Twitter master too & just can't be replaced!

Its been poor for a long time, I was abroad for the senior football final in 2017 and there was no updates. Hardly any results of county finals posted in 2018 let alone championship games results/updates

Great piece on the hurlers here by the42.ie. Talks about where we are now and what has to be done to compete at that level, working off 4 senior clubs. Very good read.

Good win for the hurlers today. Nice to get a win over Offaly even if it is early season.

Jack kavanagh was very strong today as were the 2 corner backs. Offaly had a huge amount of wides in the first half.

The second half saw Carlow take over especially with Eoin Nolan and Richard Coady coming into the half back line.

Marty kavanagh is pure class and great to watch.

Good to see James Doyle getting a run as well.

Panel looks stronger than ever before and some of the young lads are pushing for places. Very promising start to the year.

Fair play to your hurlers pushing on nicely, keep it up. Survival in Div 1B is a must, sure make a push for promotion, you never know. Also to stay in the Leinster Championship would be a great boost.
