They were all straight red.

The match reports read like a scene out of Brave Heart. That's a serious amount of straight reds to contend with in the next few matches.

Massive uphill task. There's a break after the Meath match, which now takes on a must win status. There'll be a referees report between now and then too, which hopefully won't worsen matters.

Surprised at Laois losing two out of two so far. Their goose will be well and truly cooked if they lose to Antrim next up. You'd stil expect them to win that, especially with Antrims casualty list. They've beaten them twice already this year, but sometimes it's difficult to beat a team three times in the one year - the pendulum might just swing. If they do and we get over Meath, Laois who are 2nd next up might be already out of the reckoning. That said, they might be twice as dangerous trying to avoid the bottom two.

Just about got the win on Saturday against Meath so its winner takes
all game V Laois on Saturday week.

With 2 of the suspended back we will be stronger but we do need
to start finding the net again.

But well done to Chris Nolan and James Doyle that got us over the line Saturday.

Fantastic win for the hurlers today.

That was some score to put up against Leix on their home turf.

Finish the job next week, hopefully.

That's probably their best win this year. With Westmeath trough to the final they might be not be at their best next week. Think we will need to win as I can't see Kerry beating Antrim up there.

Great performance by the team. Full back line excellent and full forward line threat all day. John Michael and Eddie Byrne were brilliant off puck outs and Paul Coady scored some monster points.

We are so lucky to have Alfie Corcoran on this team, he gave as good a display of defending as I've ever seen.

Team back on track and the final now is back in our own hands.

That performance yesterday ranks up there as one of the best ever by a Carlow hurling team... Croke park last year against Antrim was magnificent but beating Laois was another huge step for the team in playing to their maximum.

Alfie Corcoran was simply magnificent. He was a match and better than all he marked. Sublime stickwork, anticipation flicking the ball to a colleague- he was exceptional in all aspects of corner back play. One of his best days. All the defence were superb but Alfie just stood out.
David English was top class as well and the midfield played really strongly and intelligently by placing accurate ball for the corner men to cause untold problems for the Laois defence and keep the scoreboard ticking well nicely.
Both half forwards - Nolan and Byrne were excellent and presented well for puck outs and their scores from play were top drawer.
The free taking was top class - hard to find fault!
Laois have slipped since the days of Cheddar and maybe have had a few players out due to injury but are still a otent force and at home are a tough opponent.
Huge game at home net Saturday and the better discipline shown yesterday will be needed from all players if a win is to be secured. No doubt that the management and players have done very well and one more big performance is now needed to secure a final berth.

Followed all games on match tracker today in particular the Carlow / Westmeath game, one that Carlow had to win, high scoring game 3-21 to 1-21sets them up nicely for the crunch game, you can't go wrong with Brendan Hennessy & kclr or match tracker, vintage stuff, you can chair the games yourself, do the punditry stuff yourself, be your own critic, set your own standards, with no one team taking precedent over the other, no elitism that is, score getters are the headline makers, and no 15 sec. clip high lights.
Vintage / classic stuff

What a fantastic win for the hurlers today.

Westmeath came at us and gave it their best shot, but we were well on top at the end.

Sets up not only a Joe Mcdonagh final but also a shot at one of the bigger teams of either Leinster or Munster.

What a win today, last week was one of our finest ever wins and today was great again. Not good for the heart though but when you come out the right side of it, it is some relief. These lads have rarely if ever let us down. Four finals now under Bonnar, and another final in Croke Park to look forward to soon. The last time we were there we let loose v Antrim. What a year so far for Carlow. God, I loves me county!!

Who plays who after the Joe MacDonagh final. Do the winners play the 3rd placed Leinster team with the losers playing the Munster equivalent, or is there an onward draw?

I have the GAA fixtures list & it says the winners play the Munster side. Lately though I've seen in different places that it's not done yet so I don't know.

So, if we beat Westmeath we'll play Limerick. Lose and we play Wexford, is that it?

As far as I'm aware yes. Limerick hurling had it up on their Facebook page yesterday as well that it was that way.
