johnanthony, whoever you have spoken with in Ballycastle obliviously knows very little about our club. Ballycastle were the only team in Div 4 to complete all matches last season. We've entered an U21 football team this year due to a renewed interest in football and increased. We've reentered the SW McCormick cup and structures are being put in place to start up a juvenile football section.

If a team is relegated they should accept it and stop going around the county phong other clubs and county officials saying other clubs are folding and will not be competing in Div 4 this year. Live with it and get on with it.

Fair play NA Hound my sentiments exactly, bit of scaremongering by a certain clubs creating rumours in order to ensure their status. Great to hear always love a trip up to Ballycastle you know your gonna get a very physical examination be it hurling or football.

Good to hear NA Hound, as I've said elsewhere Ballycastle could have a great football team, an awful lot of talent. Glad to hear about the U21 team, great for the club! Wouldn't buy into what you said about other clubs phoning round saying clubs are folding, don't know if there is any proof of this, prob more rumours than anything else.

Great to hear NA.

Where did these rumours start?

NA hound- great to hear , long may this surge in football continue. I had earlier stated that I fancy ballycastle to win Div 4 this year, and this renewed interest in football adds further weight to my prediction.

Lisburn will feel annoyed about having to play in div 4 this year, but this is down to the powers that be, and it is unlikely to change at this stage.

Think you might find that Pearses completed and won all their games last season. Thought common sense would've applied regarding the league and championship structures, 3 divisions that mirror the respective championships is the way forward with a round robin format to be used in the championship to ensure that each club gets three games. Sadly, as has been stated on here, the County Board are a law onto themselves and would not accept a concept that they could not put forward as their own.

I wonder then if a number of clubs in Div 4 did not fulfil their fixtures were they all hit with the stated fines and did they all pay the stated fines and on a similar note did Ardoyne get hit with the stated fines and pay the stated fines.

I imagine in this world that demands transparency if anyone were to ask the county board for clarification on equality of fines being applied and collected they would get a nice jolly ffff right off :)

As far as I know all Division 4 clubs, apart from Glenravel possibly, fulfilled their fixtures- don't be foolish enough to think that if a result isn't on the County website then the match hasn't been played! I personally think the division 3 situation is farcical, a club doesn't fulfil fixtures for a number of weeks and no disciplinary action of any kind is taken, what kind of a signal does it send out to other clubs and will the County Board ever achieve any level of consistency regarding it.

SaffNBArmy I am not being foolish as I know Aggies did not fulfill their Div 4 fixtures either.

The Aggies didn't fulfill all their Div 3 fixtures!

Don't be foolish enough to think that if a team has a number of games played against their name on the table that these are actually fulfilled fixtures and not games that were awarded as a walk over.

What is the actual start date for the league competitions anyway? I noticed there was some chat on the antrim messageboard about no double header senior and reserve fixtures midweek until the evenings got longer which is sensible even though I do enjoy being able to take in both games at the one venue on the same day.

Know a few aggies boys, as far as i know they did complete all their div 4 fixtures and all but 1 Div 3 game. From what i can gather their Div 4 team was their South Antrim team just getting a few more games (and helped them stay in Div 3!)

Fair enough the_watcher and if so I stand corrected - just that I work with an Aggies man and he said there were a couple of games they did not play last year - said he thinks though that on one occasion it was the opposition that were unable to field.

Aggies didn't complete one fixture for definite in Div 4. They couldn't field as their first team were playing in Div 3 at the same time.

Yeah thats what i was told too, the one they didn't play in div 4 was against Glenravel who couldn't field, which is a coincidence because i think that looking at div 3 fixtures that was the only team their Seniors didn't field against.

So did Glenravel pay their fines then or with their nice grounds are they just all fur coat and no knickers? (rhetorical question by the way).

I suppose what I am getting at with my last statement and in light of the fact we have been told that St Mals got to stay up because they were unlucky in some games, Ardoyne may have got some sort of reprieve because they keep the torch burning in that part of the city etc is it possible that clubs like Aghagallon and Glenravel that have good facilities and appear well run are much more likely to face the full force of the law. Of course a good bit of this is based on heresay so it is just for arguments sake!

Why would any difference be made amongst clubs with regards to fines?
