congratulations to the shamrocks on their 3 in a row,top of the pile now on 18 county titles, that said it was a dour oul dogfight which was what dunloy wanted.we didnt perform well and hit FAR to many easy wides [dunloy aswell} which imo was to do with the floodlights, still to play poor and still win the title with a bit to spare is the mark of a good team.

I attended the SHC final on Saturday evening. It was a gritty encounter, a real war of attrition with very little pure hurling. Dunloy got the tactics correct and their spoiling activities prevented Loughgiel from playing their normal game. Dunloy shot an inexplicable number of wides from relatively easy positions as did Loughgiel to a lesser extent. If Dunloy had taken even half their chances it would have been a different game. You however always got the impression that Loughgiel could step it up a gear if required. Good luck to Loughgiel as they go on another Ulster & All Ireland campaign. I agree with a previous poster about the floodlights. I found it difficult following high balls and. This may be a explanation for the poor shooting.

Loughgiel didnt win the championship Dunloy lost it end off. 17 wides three of them goal chances compare to 9. Loughgiel never got a sniff of a goal and as for their so called brilliant defence had Shortie taken the half of his chances Dunloy would be champions.

Loughgiel played to the best of their limited abilities and were found wanting and only poor shooting from Dunloy gave them this game.

Shenboli, I'm not one for these forums but you seem to be the only one talking sense. I was there watching the match as a neutral and thought Dunloy hurled Loughgiel off the field. Your backs were phenomenal and unfortunately your forwards just couldn't find the target at all, which if the match had of been played during the day like it is supposed to might have been a different story. To say Loughgiel could have stepped it up a gear is rubbish.

Cold hard facts are five out of six L'giel forwards scored from play as opposed to one out of six Dunloy forwards. As for being played off the field at what point did Dunloy take the lead and put L'giel under pressure, led from start to finish. Better to win ugly than lose pretty!.

We beat ourselves. Simple a that. 17 wides tells it own story. Lgiel didn't miss and deserved to win because of that. It's disappointing to lose ESP when you know you could have won it but for wayward shooting.

Also don't want another final under the lights. No use for hurling at all.

Thought the ref was ok tho don't for the life of me understand adding on 2 mins when clearly 4 mins had ran past with the sending off and injuries etc. bit odd but what can you do about it now.

Roll on next year as we have now a great foundation to build on with our young lads.

At the start of the year no one gave dunloy a chance but i think our boys showed when they want to put in the effort there as good as loughgiel cushendall or ballycastle. I think our lads gave it away with the 17 wides prob 12 of them were easy scores but loughgiel took their chances and deserved to win because of that. I think saturday night will be a big big motivation for our young lads next year and hopefully we will see them lift the cup still very proud of their achievements this year as the goal was just to get over the whole st galls match last year. With loughgiel i think if they play a real good team in portumna, ballyhale etc well what can i say they will be hurled of the field. And also there was something that happend at the end of the game although id rather not say it on here but it really shows what some loughgiel players and supporters are really like. And this is not me trying to start a whole row on this becasue i have friends from loughgiel but one of the dunloy players told me what one of the loughgiel players done at end of game and supporters of theirs included to.

I assume that shocking incident that Dunloy 2012 refers to at the end of Saturdays Final, was when the L'giel captain held up the Cup and the L'giel supporters clapped and cheered and celebrated just like every other winning club has over the past 100 years. Perhaps next year the county will provide screens to protect those sensitive souls from Dunloy from having to watch such disgraceful scenes. Still it could have been worse somebody could have run on to the pitch with a banner proclaiming yo ho ho its 3 in a row.
