Can Loughgiel emulate their illustrious predecessors and reach another All-Ireland final ?. ......That should awaken the pundits who have been hibernating all winter.

lol ive resisted posting about it as i felt it was up to a lgiel man/woman to do so!

its going to be a tough game ofr them, o'loughlin gaels are a big strong team and were pretty impressive in their leinster final win over OTB. im not calling it at all! lol i do wish them luck but watching your fierest rivals play and wanting them to win is very very wrong! lol

I hope they are stuffed out the gate, worse team to win an Antrim Championship since the last time they won it

Another dinosaur has arisen from hibernation with the same outdated opinions. The Antrim and Ulster champions are on the march again supported by their Red Army no matter what you think...........where are you ??

Almost implying the neanderthal count has been low all these years in LG bushwhacker?

Bottom line is though that neither cushendall nor dunloy beat them in the championship regardless of how average they looked in both games, so where does one go with that unpalatable truth?

bw you would swear you were shocked and offended that people didnt want you to do well! lol

what do you want people to say? they love you and want you to win? of course not, they are your rivals!

i know plenty of lgiel people who are friend that never want us to win, no matter who we play, its part of our rivalery!

why would i need to wise up and go to a match, i dare say i go to many more matches than most contributors on here. I don't want Loughgiel to win, i don't like there attitude, i think it is with real regret that one of the big teams of antrim hurling had to sell its soul by bringing in outsiders to win a championship. I also despite the way they now engage their opponents in verbals and they go to ground like didier drogba any chance they get.

kautostar.......who's the outsider that Loughgiel brought in and when?.I'll guarantee that there's not a team in Antrim that hasn't played outsiders at one time or other in their history..........come kauto, old boy, try me !!!

I find this thread all rather the rivallry between l'ghuil/c'dall/dunloy that bad that they wont support each other outside of antrim?? I would class cargin as my clubs big local rivals (more successful at that) but i would always support them when they make it out of the county. I know this is rare these days but how can you not wish a team well when they play against opposition from other counties who you have no ties to?? Consider also how the so-called bigger hurling counties ridicule and joke about antrim should we not all be getting behind our county champions, whoever they may be, in the hope that they can put one over on these others????

The players all seem to get on all right, but there has always been jealousy and envy between these teams.More so since Dunloy and Cushendall started winning in the latter years of the 20th century

bushwhacker (Antrim) - Posts: 261 - 10/02/2011 15:10:01    864697

So Loughgiel brought in an outsider. Loughgiel are managed by PJ O'Mullan junior. He has done an excellent job and long may it last. At least he had the foresight to go and get a good backroom team that includes Jim Nelson, yes an outsider and yes the same person Dunloy tried to get for years. Its irrelevant who was brought in as the history books will show who won the championship in 2010.

I can also state for sure that Dunloy and Cushendall brought in outsiders during most of their all ireland campagne's because the bottom line is that they are needed.

Best of luck on Saturday week and anyone who is in any way interested in hurling in Antrim/Ulster will support Loughgiel.

kauto again wise up. Think there are a few players on every team with a bit of the italian footballer in them. You said that this was the worst team to win a championship since 1989 since the last time loughgiel won the championship. Can you back this up???

caserox (Antrim) - Posts: 22 - 10/02/2011 17:40:21    864886

Casox, yes i can back that up, 1:09 they scored in a championship final, went 26 minutes without a score, almost 40 mins without a score from play. Loughgiel have a good goalkeeper, a hardworking defence well marshalled by the best centre half in Antrim club hurling and one talented but temperamental forward.

Look lads get over yourselves, I don't like Loughgiel (i'm certainly not the only one), its the nature of sport, eevery team has supporters and ABU's, similar to Irish at world cups, we have much more in common with England than Brazil, they are our neighbours, they share a similar culture, language etc yet when they play Brazil/Argentina/Italy 90% of Irish support the opposition.

Why? some say the policital issue, but i'd say its more likely the Arrogance, the constant inflated level of expectation, the assumption they have the best players every year and the persistent harping on about their one big success (achieved rather fortunately) many moons ago with relative little success in recent years

Sound familiar?????

Lets face all the back biting is normal in north Antrim between clubs ,the only thing they agree on is the hatred for city clubs ...and by the way all the north antrim clubs are a mile behind some of the southern teams i've seen maybe they,d be better working togeather to try and produce a better Antrim team

"At least he had the foresight to go and get a good backroom team that includes Jim Nelson, yes an outsider and yes the same person Dunloy tried to get for years. "

I think you'll find that is a load of balls Tom.
