Looks like S Poacher is going for Down Job

It is inevitable he will move on at some point.
He will be missed but we have built a head of steam and i see no reason why we cannot continue to rise next year.
It will be interesting to see who Turlough brings in to replace him if he does move back home.
He will be a loss but i am confident what has being built will be improved upon .
Saying that 2019 is going to be a challenging year for both our hurlers and footballers

Yes I seen this coming when the down job was vacated, massive loss the lads really bought into him, it will take a big character to replace him, nothing is certain yet but I would say the lure of taking over his own county will be too much, and you also have to take into account his commute to Carlow and back and run a session.

agree big loss it he gets it, but by no means guaranteed. However, you couldn't begrudge him a shot at his home county - probably a sleeping giant in Ulster terms.

I see Down has a new manager - Poacher does not seem to be part of the highly rated Paddy Tally's back room team. Hopefully this is good news for us ... There was talk of county training resuming in October so hopefully we can push on from last year

Fantastic to have it confirmed. He is vital to us, and fair play to him for committing again. It's a long trek down every time, but he obviously loves the set up and the players.

Great news for sure.

But tell us more about what you're hearing ....

I'm hoping it involves a return for Hughie Gahan and Shane O'Neill.

Going by club performance O'neill Need to improve and slim down for county, Gahan would definitely improve the squad though!
Gary Kelly would be good to have back also
