Offaly have spared the Leinster Council's blushes by agreeing to a request from Kildare to postpone their O'Byrne Cup opener by almost two weeks.

The game was due to take place on Saturday, December 8, but has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 20 with Gracefield now expected to be the venue. Kildare had sought the postponement as they aren't permitted to return to collective training until the same day as the game was originally fixed for after reaching the Super 8s this year.

Having reached the All-Ireland final, Dublin's winter training ban doesn't expire until later in December, but they have received a bye into the semi-finals which don't take place until January 12.
