Dublin hurling manager appointment imminent

October 26, 2018

Dublin senior hurling managerial contenders Mattie Kenny, Anthony Daly and Anthony Cunningham.

The new Dublin hurling manager is expected to be unveiled next week.

Anthony Daly, Mattie Kenny and Anthony Cunningham are believed to be in the running to succeed Pat Gilroy, who resigned six weeks ago due to overseas work commitments.

Clare legend Daly, who managed the Dubs to Allianz League and Leinster SHC titles in 2011 and '12 respectively, is in charge of the Kilmacud Crokes team that will face Ballyboden St Enda's in Sunday's Dublin SHC final replay, and no announcement will be made until after then.

“Hopefully next week we will have it all sorted before the following weekend,” Dublin GAA chairman Sean Shanley told The Herald.

“We would have been talking to people early this week. We just don’t want to interfere with the county final.”
