Some shock results last night, with Sarsfields beating Tir na nOg and the mighty Rossa getting beat by St Galls . Anyone care to have an opinion on who will win the league and who will get relegated

The big surprise last night other than those mentioned by Redmick was St John's travelling to Ballycastle and getting a draw that's a good result on a Wednesday night. Remember St Gall's showed that they are getting their act together as in the 2011 Championship they lead Cushendall until the last few minutes with fantastic fielding from Anton, CJ, big Full Forward, etc. Rossa to their credit were 9 - 8 up at HT against Loughgeil in the first round of the championship last year 'what might have been'. Its early days but Cdall, Glenarriffe (St Gall's football committments will play a part), Cmills and St Theresa's for the four divisions but good luck to all the teams its great to get the season off to a flyer with some shock results.

Ballycastle were missing 7 first team players. I watched the championship game between the two last season and it was very one sided. I would expect a similiar gap between the two when the serious hurling begins. As for St. Galls v Rossa, I think the milltown club have the better players and I'm not surprised by the result. It is difficult in this day and age for a dual club. That said, if St. Galls can keep all their dual players fit for both codes they could beat Cushendall this year. The result that surprised me was Armoy getting beat by Cloughmills. I have watched a couple of pre-season friendlies and Armoy have a big squad with some decent hurlers, albeit a bit light. Thanks for the post.

In reply to Altview.

The town will struggle this year. Too reliant on one man. Big Hippy. He doesnt play, they are average. Its between them and the 3 Down clubs to see who goes down. Glenarriff will come back up again.

I think in the Senior Hurling League, Loughgiel, Dunloy and Cushendall will be no were near Relegation. Ballycastle I feel will be ok with the return of Shane Jennings and Ciaran Clarke this year. They will remove some of the scoring burden of Malachy Dallas.

I think St Johns will struggle this year and cant see them beating any of the big '3', they will need to pick up their points against the Ards teams.

I would grade them in order Ballycran, Ballygalget and then Portaferry, who were so poor against Cushendall at the weekend, and they will get the chop and I dont see them coming straight back up

good result for Ports . . . . looking forward to the hurling on sunday . i think DIV2 will be closer that a lot of ppl think . rossa will need to win otherwise their season will end up the same as last year . st galls are a mystery to me seem to have all the potential in their hurling team but seem happy enough to play DIV 2 hurling . glenariffe look the team to beat . think its between gortnamona srasfields and tirnaog to go down . DIV 1 will be the usual 3 teams competing for the league but none really care if they win it and the likes of st johns battling to stay up but might not make it this year

A good result for Portaferry but Loughgiel only played 4 of the all Ireland winning team. A bit of prospective lads. :)

odd to see ballycran top of the reserves and bottom of the div1 , anyways , the ports can shout about their famous draw , fact is , everyone knows theyre nowhere near the level of loughgiel shamrocks

another bit of perspective

lgiel played the all ireland winning team against Dunloy who were minus 6 starters and barely beat them ;)

def not, it was a poor game with the scores at 0-07 to 0-04 at half time to cdall. cdalls scores came from mostly from frees and a missed pen.

second half was much the same as the first but we could do nothing right no matter what we did. 2 players sent off, one from each team, but it wasnt a dirty game, rather a tough one. have to say i thought the ref wasnt great, tho not as poor as the ref against lgiel.

disapointing, but not the end of the world.
