What sort of team do we have this year? Anyone hazard a guess at a possible starting 15?

I disagree....With forwards like E, McNeil, C, Duffin, F, Johnston, D, Lynch, R Murray, C, McCann(if he isnt committed to hurling) it aint bad either.

Having just saw the panel my starting 15 would be as follows: (only my opinion because im not sure of some of the panel members)

1. Danny McErlaine (only because i know he was sub keeper last year)
2. Martin Johnston
3. Ricky Johnston
4. Declan Straney
5. Michael Hynes
6. James Laverty
7. Paddy McBride
8. John Carron
9. Colm Duffin
10. Feargal Johnston
11. Declan Lynch
12. Eamon McNeill
13. Ryan Murray
14. Stephen Tully/Hugh McNulty
15. Brendan Bradley

Diarmuid Quinn was outstanding last year at centre half back and is back in the panel this year , surprised baker hasn't called him into the senior but I think it's forwards he needs to find.

Saffron out of interest what would your line up be?

Yeah Quinn is decent but prob needs to play chb, James Laverty could play as a hard working wing half forward

couple of players missin i think. What about McKernan from Sarsfields? Brady or Copies from St. Pauls? might be too old now though but i wouldnt have thought so.

Couple of players missing? maybe, it's a strong enough team. You could nearly add another couple from Lamh Dhearg and Creggan. They were both excellent this year and I'm pretty sure the only lose maybe 5 players between them for next year so I wouldn't be surprised if either of those teams win again.

well I think one of the best if not the best keeper at this age group (ryan doherty) was dropped after playing very well at the trials by all accounts

my team would be:

1 ryan doherty
2 marty johnson
3 ricky johnson
4 declan straney
5 paddy mc bride
6 diarmud quinn
7 michael hynes
8 john carron
9 james laverty
10 anton talyor
11 decky lynch
12 colm duffin
13 ryan murray
14 eamon mc neill
15 brendan bradley

strong enough team with 4 players currently on the mckenna cup panel and a number of others who have been about the senior panel last year for a while, john carron, james laverty, diarmud quinn, eamon mc neill

Lamh dhearg under21s had a good goalkeeper last year, surely he is on the pannel? I would expect to see more creggan and lamh dhearg men and maybe more st johns men. St johns patrick mcbride is on the senior panel, will he start?

What about Gareth Magee from Aghagallon. Has been a regular starter on the senior team for the past 4-5 years and has won player of the year twice in the past few years.

Decky lynch has played the majority of his club football at midfield saffrons and LD have won a fair bit!! sheerin is a great fielder and think the team needs more of that around the middle altho think young mc cann is sticking to the hurling but would be a great asset if he did play
