As hurling in the county is on a life support machine with a very poor outlook the county board should now fully concentrate it's budget on football. We have had the same discussions, let downs and failures about hurling since the early 90's and nothing has changed. The truth is hurling is dying in the county and we are really no better than most other Ulster counties now. Consequently we should focus on the footballers who seem to have put aside internal differences for the greater good and it is paying off.

I think you are being a little melodramatic there Ulsterman - if you look at this positively, now we have the likes of Carlow, Westmeath and Kildare improved and competitng with Antrim and Down - we have to accept we are not in the top 10 teams in the land or good enough for div 1 but Antrim rarely have been in the top 10. Admittedly we should be aiming to be on a par with Wexford, Clare and Laois and we failed to do that this year. Hurling is certianly not dead in Antrim, it will revive again!

Ulsterman are you for real? should antrim now go the way the rest of ulster has done then and not do anything with hurling? that ranks up there with the most silly suggestion ive heard. Hurling, football and camogie are all part of the codes clubs play. not football only. the sad thing is most clubs take the easy option and have football only. any idot with half an ounce of ability can play football.
to ask for hurling to be forgot about, well 5-6 years ago im sure theres plently who would have forgot about football in antrim. 2 good seasons and we now want to push hurling aside! lol utter madness!

In fairness I agree with Ulsterman to a point.
You's should give up hurling. You's are useless at it. You's aren't much better at football, and are going to get stuffed pretty soon (see thread on Tyrone forum "How much will we beat Antrim by"). So if I were you's I'd give up on that too.
If I were you's I'd concentrate on rugby.

If can cant beat Sligo there is no hope. Antrim football on a very temporary high.I played both games to minor but found football thugish, boring and very unskilled. Hurling on the other hand takes talent and and skill. The 2 games dont compare, football is more popular countrywise because any tool can play it,well sorry evidently any tool outside Antrim, because besides Naomh Gall youse are awful.
PS FortyFive. Pick on someone your own size and leave Orlaith alone

Aww dnt think that they should just stick 2 one of them becaues they should just try and develop them both and then could have a chance of winning something.???

ulsterman. best of luck 2 your county come may. of course i would like my county 2 bt antrim , but in a event this does not happen , i will be cheering on antrim . your county deserves a lot of credit 4 your success 4 st. galls, and can only be good 4 the county players and managment, and supporters. may the footballers of antrim keep coming 2 the forefront of our games. best wishes 2 fellow gael. p.s i hope it will be a good game.

They are talking about putting all the money in to football here and you come on saying you'll support them if they pull the shock of the last 50 years by beating Tyrone and you even call them fellow gaels. What about the Hurlers off Antrim are they going to be like Tyrone forgot about and have A micky mouse management put in place just like most Tyrone gaa people your A real gael.

dungannon. i am a gael like yourself, i just think the stick antrim were getting on our page, and on their own was unwarranted. of course i want tyrone 2 win , what is the matter with u . i did say that on one of my posts, but if u cannot see were i am coming from well then i am wasting my time , and 4 the record they are fellow gaels , or arent they.. IF MY COUNTY TYRONE GETS ELIMINATED FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP. i would still like 2 see the remaining ulster teams do well. i will never take anything 4 granted . and slating a county who are a proud people are not the way 2 go about things espeically if they are a ulster county. all the best dungannon . tyrone abu.

While I think every county should give all funding to football over Hurling it won't make much difference in Antrim's case. The outlook's pretty bleak for Hurling and Football to be honest, maybe camogie or handball may be the route to follow. Would be nice to get a little success at least eh. Good luck in the game anyway, I do feel bad for what we will inflict upon you

HA ha ha ha PomeroyPLUNKER thats the best one I've heard to date. Sure talk is cheap. I can see why Plunkers like you have turned other County supporters against ya's. Why don't ya go back to your own board. Win, Lose or Draw we will still be behind OUR County not calling for our Managers head.

Outlook is bleak for hurling?? Have you seen tyrones recent hurling disasters?? Sligo 3-17 Tyrone 1-13 Tyrone 0-3 Wicklow 6-22. That makes for impressive reading does it not. The wicklow game was in omagh too. If you also want to look at the bigger picture ie the past (and not just from 2003 onwards when some tyrone people think the gaa began) you will find that accumulatively antrim have many more ulster titles than tyrone have......and i mean a lot more.
And maybe you will inflict a serious drubbing to antrim in may, maybe you wont. But, when this good tyrone team eventually passes on will you still follow them or will you just wait till they are good again???

Not to be too pedantic FrankBhoy but the Wicklow game was in Strabane, however, I get your point. Please consider who made the point initially and I'm sure you will agree that it is not worth getting hot under the collar

Frankbhoy77 I couldn't sleep for a week after that Wicklow match, never been as upset in my life. If Tyrone hurlers were playing in my front garden I'd close the curtains, no-one in Tyrone cares about Hurling and it's only played by players who can't get a game for the football team. I struggle to find the words to convey just how indifferent I am to Hurling and especially Hurling in Tyrone
