Antrim V Limerick

so jesusjones got in in the act too and started giving off about Down hurling/hurlers, yeah lads it doesnt take a genius to realise there are huge problems with Down hurling, have been for years.....so whats your point? ULSTERman claims he has no problem with Down fans giving an opinion but as soon as I predicted Limerick by 12 he stated "Limerick by 6/7...........and Down still to remain a quite irrelevant, sad and bitter hurling county!" and as for jesusjones statement "Armagh beat Down, could all Down contributors please refrain form discussing hurling." BIG DEAL, Down has 3 senior clubs and Armagh are on the up through improved structures/coaching/developments squads etc, in the next 10 years maybe Armagh could beat Antrim so I wouldnt be too cocky. And to call LIMKBOY patronising is fair enough but thats exactly what Antrim do to the other hurling counties in Ulster. Saffron tinted glasses lads.

just because you are from Antrim does it give you more knowledge of the game than me....no it certainly doesnt. Just because your an Antrim man doesnt mean you are any better than anyone else. I am so so glad you lot got tanked today, purely for the arrogant/patronising attitudes on this forum. maybe you will start taking heed of what sort of level you are at instead of belittling a Down person everytime he happens to comment on your forum. Keep getting the byes into the ulster final and having home advantage every year lads, does you a lot of good when you go to meet the big boys down south doesnt it? I wont be wasting any more time retorting to this forum as your attitudes make me angry and I really think some of you dont have a clue what your talking about.

grandagrokepoke, it wouldn't matter if Antrim played Down in Casement or up and down the Andersonstown Road we'd still stuff you. Your right, Armagh might end up beating Antrim in the championship some time in the next 10 years but I can tell you one thing, Down won't.

The basic fact is that Antrim are no nearer to the top teams than we were 3o years ago. Yesterdays result only confirms this . 19 points difference between us and probably the 6th or 7th team in the country. We fool ourselves that we are progressing when we scrape a result against Carlow or Laois, but when the real test comes we just don't have anywhere near the skill or sheer physical ability to compete against the big guns. It's a good job we were not playing Tipperary,or we'd have been beaten by about 60 points.I hate writing this, but it has to be said,no point in fooling ourselves any longer,we're not at the race.

To be honest I haven't a clue, there's really only 3 teams in with a chance every year Kilkenny,Cork and Tipp. When was the last time anyone else won an All Ireland,so we're not on our own.

I wouldn't even count Cork in it any more, 3rd best team in the country now is probably Dublin. Anyway now the county is finished the serious stuff can start, roll on the club championship!!!

Lads, granda may be putting the boot in regarding the Limerick match but to be honest ye deserve it, not many outside Antrim will be too annoyed . Look forward to our next encounter at Casement (what a shock) with the big ball and seeing the saffrons season finished just like your hurlers. Bitter and twisted we maybe but hope to see you on Saturday ;-)

I dont think any down fan can view the qualifier draws as favourable to Antrim considering their games to date have been against Clare, Lietrim and Antrim.

Last Sunday Dunloy and Cushendall had to play the Feis Cup without their county men. It saw Dunloy lose Paul Shiels, Kevin Molloy, Kevin McKeague and Paddy Doherty while Cushendall lost the services of Conor Carson, Neil McManus and Karl McKeegan. From those seven players only two started in what was a total hammering from Limerick. Two questions need asking Why were these players prevented from playing with their clubs and why were so many not either used or started against Limerick?

Are these serious questions? So many weren't started because only 15 are allowed to start?? Do we take to the field with 30 players?? Do we break the rules and play every sub we have? Plus the Antrim match was on Saturday, Feis Cup on sunday....surely it was up to the players if they wanted to play or not. No???

Maybe they didn't play because they are Div 1.players,they wouldn't have the experience that Div 4, 3 and 2 players would have.
