Johnnies on the up..

(Oldest Posts First)

As a hurling man was great to see that the hurling is alive and kicking on the falls road. Just heard the result from the St.Johns and Donloy match last night. St.Johns have a lot of great young hurlers and as I look around the rest of the clubs in Antrim I dont think they can match what the Johnnies have at juvenile level. There is a big blue and white cloud on the hill and there a strong breeze behind it lol.

There isnt one Jahnnies player that would have the ability or class to grace any north antrim side. Its the truth. Dunloy were missing 14 starting players sure mickey og rooney and his band of brothers would have beaten that dunloy side. False dawn on the whiterock.

I like the way thedarktruthNA got the club's location correct.

Massively understength Dunloy team I was told. And from what I hear youd think st johns had won the all ireland after it they way they were carrying on! Fist pumping and kissing badges etc etc!

Went to this match ,have to say Dunloy were weak but St Johns had at least 6under 17's and 6 under 21's in fact if you took Brian mcfall out the average age would have been about 19, i'd say they had something to celebrate and if i remember correctly people were saying that they'd be going back down again this year ,good to see a Belfast clib putting a bit of pride back on the streets indeed i would congratulate the whole club as i dont know of ant other that plays senior hurling football and camogie in Ulster ,dont know of many in Ireland ...keep it lit!!!!

Maybe a good decision to play Intermediate championship last year.Experience of winning boosts the confidence.

havingalaugh, you say you have looked around the rest of the clubs in antrim and nothing matches the johnnies at juvenile level, are you sure about that, having seen a lot of juvenile games from u,10 to u,16 id say they are far from dominant, johnnies are getting good results in div one senior hurling but traditionally they will always fall short when it comes to championship, indeed its coming 40 years since they last had the volunteer cup up the whiterock. havent seen anything from them that will change that.

Ruairi Og clean sweep at minor last year including taking the scalp of the johnnies in the county final. Cushendall have now won 3 minor championships in 7 years, Rossa 2 and Loughgiel 2. Surely you can't be serious about St. John's dominating at under age in Antrim?

Think what he's on about is the fact they were in both minor finals ,won everything at under 16 hurling football and camogie won everything at under 14 played and won most finals at under 12 ,in fact had 23 trophies on the table nearly all juvenile ...maybe there not on the up !!!
