I'd say the Kilkenny footballers would give Antrim a run for their money.

Antrim suffer from the old complaint, lack of quality forwards.........the present lot haven't a clue.Maybe some of the minors should be drafted in they seem to have more idea.

derrymore
County: Kerry

I'd say the Kilkenny footballers would give Antrim a run for their money.

They might have done derrymore. Tell me, are the people of Kerry looking forward to the visit this week so that they can that personally pay homage to Liz and honour her ancestor who bestowed the title of the Kindgom on Kerry?

If Kerry were from any other province they would have a lot less All-Ireland titles, sure the only opposition they have is Cork who are a real GAA county, being equally adept at both football and hurling. Is that not correct Derrymore?

just finished reading liam bradleys comments on the game yesterday were he stated donegals ultra defensive system was the reason antrim were beat yesterday well hear is my reason they were beat donegal had the better forwards on show yes they played defensive but still managed 1-10 if you look at the game again from the 35th minute to 60th minute antrim only had 3 players up the pitch being the forwards when donegal were attacking the rest were defending so liam as the old saying goes people in glass houses shouldn throw stones also think paddy cunningham is in the top 6 forwards in the country at the minute an as a donegal man i was glad he had a bad day at the office

They didnt have many forwards making runs for the ball. P.cunningham was only their to hit frees so thats one out from making runs, the only good ball winners are Kevin Brady and Kevin Niblock it showed when kevin brady came on he won a lot of ball which he should of been in the starting line up, kevin niblock was not at his best but tryed at times.

The seniors were terrible on sunday. Theres no excuse, and as i was driving through dungiven on the way home the bus was stopped outside the off licence. I think thats a major problem young footballers in this county have no one to look up to. I think they are maybe just getting a bit too comfortable in the saffron jersey. the minors were outstanding best display of football ive seen in a while, credit to themselves, their club and county.

the state of antrim football at the minute is quite poor and are seen as the proverbial whipping boys along with cavan, doubt there was any expectations from the supporters, maybe you should stick with the hurls and sliothars

Cavan have 38 Ulster titles, hardly whipping boys.

can anyone think of any natural scoring forwards that Baker has overlooked? in my opinion murray and sweeney are not county standard and brendan herron is no forward. cunningham hits frees but doesnt do enough from play. Is there an answer to this or do we simply have a limited talent pool?

Murray was argubly our best player and Sweeney worked extremly hard tackling back , however we do lack scoring forwards .. brian neeson might have done a job if introduced , i say we let him off the leash.

Theres a lad whos nickname is 'Animal' from Tirnanog. Hes small, quick and strong!! If you ask me thats what I think our county forward line is missing!

Yes Animal is small quick and strong but i think the antrim forward line needs power. We have no one who can win a ball and break down defences with force. As a tir na nog man i would like to see Magill recapture the form he had before he started going missing to London and Boston ect ect if Magill got his head in the game i think there is no other forward in Antrim that could out play him on his day. I am not saying he should be on the panel or starting 15 because i think he has alot of work to do to get back what i think he has lost but im just pointing out that if he could put in the effort Antrim would have one hell of a player.

There is not enough current antrim players who can win their own ball, paddy c. being the best example. Kevin brady can do it but didnt start, as can Mark Dougan who did before he got sent off. We need a couple of boys who can win the ball inside the 45, turn, shoot and score. most counties have players who can do this with ease.....Benny coulter, the gooch, johnny doyle etc etc. Antrim dont have that type of player in the squad at the minute, but surely they are there somewhere in the county.

Frankbhoy therin lies the problem: if they are not capable of doing this then they shouldn't be on the team: maybe they are not instructed by the manager. Tomas McCann is capable: Niblock is capable but always seem to be to run into a cul-de-sac of defenders

That's the old blanket defence, get a player down, surround him with 5 or 6 players,he can't get up or get the ball away, then a free is given against him. A rugby tactic through and through.
