Hyland backing Micko

Wicklow's Ciaran Hyland
Wicklow corner back Ciaran Hyland has welcomed Mick O'Dwyer's decision to remain with the Garden County for another year.

Hyland insists that all the Wicklow players are behind him, despite suggestions that he only decided to return for a fifth year after other county jobs he had been linked to during the summer failed to materialise.

"He has brought the profile of the county up massively," said Hyland, who was nominated for an All-Star last year.

"There was some talk that some people weren't happy, but I was out with a lot of the players a week ago and a lot of the players are fully behind him anyway.

"He's talking about having a meeting soon. I was chatting to him on the phone recently and he's going all out again."

Hyland is organising a 12-mile run for charity on Halloween night, October 31, ahead of a trip to Cambodia on mission work. The run from Gorey to the Arklow Bay Hotel is for the New Hope Cambodia charity.
