Debuts for Connaughton and Glennon

Gary Connaughton and Denis Glennon will make their Leinster football championship debuts for Westmeath aganst Offaly at Croke Park on Sunday 23rd May. Tubberclair man Connaughton, who played League of Ireland soccer with Athlone Town for five seasons, gets his first championship start in goal, while Tyrrellspass teenager Glennon - who was ever-present during the National League - is named at full forward. The experienced Paul Conway surprisingly loses out to Gary Dolan for the centre forward berth, while Rory O'Connell and David O'Shaughnessy are together at midfield after overcoming injury and 'flu respectively. Under 21 star Donal O'Donoghue holds onto the full back position, despite speculation that Fergal Murray would be recalled to the defence.
