The 2013 recipient of the Damian Meehan Memorial Award is Kilcar man MARTIN MCHUGH, member of the 1992 Donegal All-Ireland Champion team, 1992 Texaco Footballer of the Year, two time All-Star, and voted Donegal's "Best Ever Footballer" in a 2009 Donegal Democrat poll. Martin also won the 1997 Ulster Championship as Cavan Manager and twice won the Sigerson Cup as Sligo IT Manager. His son Mark, is a member of the 2012 Donegal All-Ireland Championship team, and son, Ryan, is also now on the Donegal panel. Martin is a GAA broadcast commentator for the BBC.
Our Campbell-Houlihan Award winner this year is CORMACH MURRIHY, who has been a strong supporter of the NY GAA for years. Cormach came here from Ratoath, Co. Meath, in August 1997. He played for the Meath Junior A team until 2000 and trained with the Donegal teams of 1999 and 2000. In 2005 he established United Structural Works, structural steel fabricators and erectors, in Congers.
