Tyrone end Donegal Senior team playoff drive
August 31, 2010
Donegal Seniors were eliminated from playoffs when a 1 point interval lead disappeared in the second stanza and Tyrone prevailed 1-17 to 1-11. It was a well-played match with almost no cards of any colour shown. A flurry of points and a goal in the early minutes may have given Tyrone too much confidence as Pat McGill's lads steadily climbed back and took the lead before the interval buzzer. The Ardara veteran's half-time pep talk seemed to be ignored as the Tir Chonnail squad let Tyrone run rampant in the second period and built a hill too high for Donegal to climb and their six point margin held up for Tyrone through most of the second 30 minutes. Donegal Juniors, including the club's "up-and-down" players, are resting and training for a September 12 Semi-final against an opponent to be determined the Sunday preceding.
