Vancouver Hurling "Race Night" Fundraiser

July 22, 2010
Dear Friend of the GAA in Vancouver,

This year is historic for the Vancouver Irish Social and Sporting Club
(ISSC). 25 years after sending a Junior Football team to compete in
Chicago - for the first time in the club's history - the Vancouver
ISSC will be sending a Hurling team to the North American County Board
(NACB) Finals on Labour Day weekend in Chicago.

The Hurling Squad will be traveling to Chicago for the 4 day weekend
and will play a minimum of 2 games and hopefully more if they progress
to the Final. the first opponent is a team from Washington D.C. who
have several years of experience playing in the NACB finals.

To help with fundraising the Hurling Squad are holding a Race Night on
Friday, August 13 at 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the Croatian Centre, 3250
Commercial Drive in Vancouver. This night comprises of 10 horse races
being shown on a large screen where each race sponsored, for example,
"The Vancouver Chase".

Can you help make history and send the Vancouver Hurlers to Chicago by
sponsoring a race? $300 is tax deductible for the company as we are a
non profit organization (attached form should be sufficient as a
receipt).

A Sponsor's name will be displayed before the race, printed on the
race card and a representative from the Sponsor will present the prize
money of $50 and a bottle of Champagne to the winning horse owner.

How about buying and owning a horse(s) in one of our races? The cost
of a horse is $30, with 8 horses per race you are in with a great
chance of winning $50 and a bottle of Champagne - presented to you
before the whole crowd! You get to name your horse and this will be
included in the race card on the night.

The forms attached are for the Race Sponsorship and Horse ownership forms.

$20 will be asked for entry at the door and you can enjoy a few
drinks, place a bet or two and enjoy some live Traditional Irish music
in between races and of course that legendary Irish " Ceol agus Craic!
" (Music and fun).

Bets are a minimum of $5 with half the profits going to the club and
the rest being distributed among the winners!
