The Gaelic Athletic Association's Canadian County Board's Annual Convention was held on Sunday, February 15 in Ajax, Ontario at the Annadale Golf and Curling Club.  Chairman Brian Farmer (Toronto ñ Durham Robert Emmets) led the meeting and delegates re-elected Vice-Chairman Jarlath Connaughton (Ottawa - Gaels), Treasurer Eddie Mangan (Toronto- Durham Robert Emmets) and Secretary John O'Flynn (Vancouver ñ Harps) to one year terms. Brian Farmer has one more year of a three year term to serve in his role as Chairman of the Canadian GAA while Lorraine Morley was re-appointed as the County Board's Youth Development Liaison Officer. Voting delegates in attendance were Toronto GAA President Mike O'Driscoll, Ottawa Gael's Pat Kelly, Brampton Roger Casement's Damian Higgins (newly elected Toronto Minor Board President), Durham Robert Emmet's President Brendan O'Neill, St. Mike's President Paul McElvanna, Michael Cusack's Lorraine Morley, Toronto Gaels' Cormac Monaghan with observers Cormac O'Muiri of St. Mikes and Ollie Malone of the Durham Robert Emmets. Regrets were communicated by the County Secretary, John O'Flynn, from the Western Canada Divisional Board Chairman, Ronan Deane , Calgary Chieftains (Adrian Lagan), Edmonton Wolf Tones (Brian Daly), Red Deer Eire Ogs's (Blaine Lavery), Vancouver Harps (Conor Walshe), Montreal Shamrock's ( Donal Lacey) and Toronto St. Pats (Sean Morley).  Motions presented to delegates included two Western Canada Divisional Board motions being passed by delegates 1) That the Canadian County & Toronto Divisional Boards select from its membership a delegation to organise a trip to a Western Canada club or tournament 2) That the Canadian County Board formally express its intent to support the  efforts to showcase Gaelic Football as an official sport at the World Police & Fire Games to be held August 2-4 in  Burnaby British Columbia  www.2009wpfg.ca Motions defeated included 1) That Rule 43b in the official guide be amended to read "A sanction shall not be granted after the 1st of July for players intending to play in the North American county board, or after the 20th of July for players intending to play in the Canadian Board or New York areas."  2)  That the Canadian Board request of the NACB, the inclusion of Canadian teams in the NACB finals. 3) That an International Committee establishes an overseas tournament for native (non Irish) players to be played at divisional levels. Items in new business included updates of future affiliations with Les Patriotes in Quebec City and the Vancouver Celts, Uachtaran Christy Cooney's visit to Toronto for May 29 ñ 31 at the time of St. Vincent's GFC 50th Anniversary celebrations and Canadian participation at the CYC Youth Championships in San Francisco July 30 ñ August 2.
