We are underdogs – Connaughton
10 August 2007
Roscommon hurling captain Mervyn Connaughton believes that his side will enter Saturdays Nicky Rackhard Cup final with Armagh as underdogs based on their opponents better league form in the NHL Division 2.
“Id say that we are probably underdogs going into it. Looking at Armaghs performances during the year in Division 2, they have definitely been playing at a level ahead of what we have been playing at. Theyve a small forward line.
“Well be up against it. We havent had a good tough game since the Sligo game in the league. Weve had a couple of good challenge games. Definitely its a huge step up.
“Its all about silverware at the end of the day because we havent won too many hurling title sin Roscommon. Its nice to be in the Christy Ring Cup next year but it would be nice to be there as champions,” Connaughton said.
