Kilbride..........1-11 St. Brigid's......1-8 Eighty-six years of famine and frustration ended for Kilbride at Hyde Park on Sunday last when they defeated favourites St. Brigid's to claim the Roscommon Senior Football Championship title. Inspired by the Lohan brothers, Kilbride recovered from a disastrous start to fashion a famous victory. Only three minutes had elapsed when St. Brigid's dangerman Frankie Dolan side-footed to the net to give his team the perfect start. The Kiltoom side failed to build on that impressive opening and by half-time, Kilbride had restored parity (0-5 to 1-2) with free-taker Eddie Lohan accounting for three points of their tally. It was still nip and tuck until 10 minutes after the restart when Kilbride swooped for the decisive goal. St. Brigid's goalkeeper Shane Curran had advanced too far off his line when Stephen Lohan's quickly-taken free put John Hanley through for the game's vital score. St. Brigid's displayed great character to level proceedings with 10 minutes remaining but the underdogs were not to be denied as late points from Hanley, Stephen and Gerry Lohan gave them victory.
